The Lord didn’t choose to record the details of His displeasure with it.

A preacher once told me that God required a blood sacrifice from the very beginning. That God Himself slew the first animal (Biblically verifiable) and that Cain could have traded some of his crop to Able in exchange for animals to be sacrificed.
Of course, this was only his opinion but it’s as good as any I’ve heard
It is evident to me (from the evidence seen or not seen) that many things we humans would LIKE to have explained; are not.
Being that Nature abhors a vacuum (Hey! I didn't make that rule!), we humans will fill in the blanks to our own liking.
And, since we humans rarely agree on things, my blank and yours are going to be, usually, filled with different things.
Thus: Cain and Abel.
As I was walking across a bridge one day; I saw a man standing outside the railing, about to jump off.
So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!"
"Why shouldn't I?" he said.
I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"
He said, "Like what?"
I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?"
He said, "Religious."
I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"
He said, "Christian."
I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"
He said, "Baptist!"
I said,"Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of GOD or Baptist Church of the Lord?"
He said, "Baptist Church of GOD!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of GOD, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD?"
He said,"Reformed Baptist Church of GOD!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915?"
He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of GOD, reformation of 1915!"
I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.
