Thinking I may not be a Conservative at all.
Dittoes.
Well they all got It off their chest which is part of the cycle of grief when the tribe has spoken and it did not go your way.
I thought the big story of this week was that Trump is now the one the GOPe would pick rather than Cruz. It’s all so confusing, or not.
“If I was the paranoid type I would conclude the Cruz/Trump war was gunned up to make way for Rubio.”
It does make one wonder...
I’d like to see someone refute their arguments instead of attacking them personally.
Not since George Wallace has there been a presidential candidate who made racial and religious scapegoating so central to his campaign. Trump launched his campaign talking about Mexican rapists and has gone on to rant about mass deportation, bans on Muslim immigration, shutting down mosques, and building a wall around America. America is an exceptional nation in large part because we’ve aspired to rise above such prejudices and guarantee life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to everyone.
This is exactly why I AM voting for Trump. Nothing else matters to me in this election.
Glad you understand us and our Trump support.
I am a conservative, but not so conservative that I will let Hillary run the country for my purism. I like Cruz but I have also been exposed to people in my past who could not flex. What I want today is a flexible leader who can draw the middle class American to him and start to dismantle the crony system of being bought and paid for by special interest groups.
Yes, Trump fits this better than Cruz. I know about the ethanol and its relationship to Iowa. but Trump has fewer ties to supporters of big government than Cruz or Hillary. To understand this statement, consider that both have been on the inside for much of their career. Trump has been in business. I have experience in business that required getting permits from government. Very expensive and no concern for the business or the benefit of the project to the people. Just pay and pay. That is how our government is perceived by business. So yes, Trump has had to provide support for the left and the right in government. And yes he has used legal aspects of our system to his advantage. So he knows what needs to be fixed. Lets let him in and give an outsider a chance. Oh, and while I am at it, how can someone actually propose that Obama and Trump are equivalent in how they will govern (Sowell, you should be ashamed of your comparison.)
As far as his patriotism, (will he turn on a dime and sell us out to the left? ) NO, I do not believe this.
RE: He is a party of one The Donald Trump Party.
Does this mean he he’s like the Donne and Marie song — He’s a little bit liberal, and He’s a little bit conservative?
They are the very people who created this environment for Donald Trump. They act like they haven’t been players in this mess since Bill Clinton was in office. Look at who they have supported in the past. Look at what they told us about playing by the rules to change in Washington. They failed and they failed to hold the criminals they helped elect accountable.
Most people realize just how broken the system is. They also see that it will take someone who is willing to use that corruption to drain the swamp before we worry about restoring the rules.
RE: I thought the big story of this week was that Trump is now the one the GOPe would pick rather than Cruz. Itâs all so confusing, or not.
Well, It’s confusing only if one were to say that these writers are all one with the GOPe.
This Country that we live in, born in, raised in, fought for, is called America!!!
WE, the American Voters are the massive movement that is standing in long lines, in the cold, rain, snow, wind, heat for hours to make the massive rallies that you have been seeing and hearing about...
We are angry, and we are fed up with politicians and governors and the government period....
We are the ones that are going to decide this election who will win and who will not...
These people that are causing all these problems with their lies, and demeaning voices are NOT true Americans...they work out of their ‘offices’ and tell the American Voters who they are going to vote for, WELL NOT THIS TIME!!! We are running this election, you can join us, the more the merrier or you can stand aside, but joining in to discredit the one man that wants to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, is un-American!!! You can tell your lies, you can make snarky remarks, WE the American Voters, don’t care!!!
We don’t listen to your lies, we don’t pay attention to your remarks because this is the last chance to save America and that’s why we are standing behind the ONLY person who was born in this country, who was raised in this country, who has built a billion dollar empire in this country and is supporting his campaign by the profits of this AMERICAN MADE COMPANY to save AMERICA!!!
Quite a herd of elephants assembled there. Watch out, STAMPEDE!
RE: Thinking I may not be a Conservative at all.
It’s pretty much useless to argue this point unless we first define what “conservatism” is and then compare this agreed definition to the arguments put forth by each individual writers.
The K Street crowd opining from their towers looking down upon the uninformed masses is not likely to have an effect on this primary season.
Some of their points may be valid, but what they don’t seem to get is people, republicans especially, are tired of being told who to vote for. The electability argument gave us losses in two winnable elections. The people have concluded these supposed geniuses can’t pick a winner.
Add to this the purity argument...
McCain and Romney were both by most accounts good men. But neither had records of being rock solid conservatives. Anyone remember Dole.
Yet we are now being told we must pick a conservative purist, when ‘they’ helped select moderates the last two presidential cycles. We are now being told we must pick someone electable, despite the failure of their ability to find someone electable.
In short, most people supporting Trump, and many supporting Cruz, will look at this list, and read these words and simply recall ... many of these people are part of the problem. This may give the pundits something to talk about for a few days, but I predict little effect.
That is something you will never see. Ever.
I used to have a subscription to NR when Buckley was still alive.
I had thought their views started to good a bit centrist after Buckley passed.
Still their are some good people here whose views will routinely coincide with mine. Thomas Sowell, and Andrew McCarthy, are people that I have agreed with on previous positions in recent years.
Many of the points stated here are why I support Cruz over Trump.
Will it matter? I do not know. Trump’s lead is large.
Still, no votes have been cast yet.
You never know.
Trump his a megalomaniac. Germany once had one as well.
They all got together to make common cause against Trump, the recognized anti
-establishment candidate.
Trump for President. And it looks like the Republican voters have made up their mind who will be the nominee. Do the voters mean anything?
