In the middle decades of the twentieth century, the Pico Palace in Pico Rivera, Calif. was an auditorium where concerts, conferences and sporting events were held. However, by the 1980’s, it had become a junk shop called Value Village. We called it Valueless Village, even though we would occasionally find something valuable there. The building was eventually razed.
