I've come around a little bit: Orrin Hatch think GOP could win with Trump

Maybe Donald Trump’s not as anti-establishment as some people think. It seems GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch — one of the most “establishment” senators out there — thinks Trump could be the ticket to a GOP victory in November:

The GOPe has figured out that the best way to destroy Trump is to embrace him.

Gee Trent Lott would rather have Trump over Cruz as the nominee the herd is moving to protect their perks.

Thank you Gaijin.

I heard this premise recently, and it made sense to me.

Didn't cost him a thing. These guys are out to save their own hides. It doesn't take a wizard to look at the size of those rallies, and think they'd like to stand on that stage with him in their district.

Spot on!! Needs repeating!

Not for the reason you think:

http://blogs.rollcall.com/rothenblog/gop-primary-goldwater-vs-mcgovern/
“A number of Republican and Democratic strategists believe Cruz is the bigger problem for his partys House and Senate candidates. According to this view, Trump’s candidacy would be neither partisan nor ideological, but entirely personal. Voters would regard him as a wild card, not as someone who represents the views of the GOP.
Cruz, on the other hand, is a more conventional Republican nominee, and voters across the spectrum would see him as defining his party. This would be fatal in northern swing districts, particularly in the suburbs, as well as in swing states with Senate races.”

But because Trump is easier to disown.

... Dana Perino, just now on The Five, was positively giddy that Hatch and Dole were bashing Cruz and supporting Trump.
Thank you for posting, I would not have known. I am truly laughing out loud.
Ted Cruz is always bashed by the gope who never said a word against Obama.

Maybe it will be a Trump/Cruz ticket after all. Many believe Cruz wouldn’t want to be the VP nominee. But if Trump wins and the GOPe is determined to keep Cruz from ever leading the GOP ticket, being the VP would leap the barrier.

“Didn’t cost him a thing. These guys are out to save their own hides.”

I could not have said it better myself. The GOPe is being left out in the cold and now the unthinkable is happening right before their eyes.

Ya know, one of the worst things the establishment could do to Trump is to endorse him...

Think about that for a inevitability fallback position. help!

Has the Chamber of Commerce chosen their candidate yet? Can’t be far behind given this news.

Well Tonto we know it cost him at least 50,000. That’s the amount he sent to McConnell’s super PAC.

I think the establishment on both sides (media included) absolutely hate, hate, hate Sen Cruz.

The same group fears Trump.

The establishment may have found the only way to defeat trump. Throw their support behind him.

Without commenting on Cruz or Trump, this is interesting. I'm in Utah and have seen Hatch close-up for decades, and the only thing he cares about is his own hide.

So I wonder is he's just being his stupid senile self, or if he senses a change in the air, and is hitching his wagon to whom he thinks is the eventual winner. (Of course, if the wind blew differently, he'd be just as happy to endorse Mrs. Clinton.)

I have. Wonder why some of them are giving him the kiss of death right now?

Do you think that’s because they like him?

Dole, Hatch, yeah they really like Trump’s plans.

Why his immigration plan alone will put them in the grave within several months.

They see where the momentum is and want to get on board. Trump doesn't owe them a thing. He will own them.

This is more reverse psychology by the establishment. If they can make it look like Trump is one of theirs, it would be a negative.

Fortunately no one pays attention to these clowns or their media.

Thank you. As I mentioned, I hear this a week or two ago, and it made a lot of sense.
