Sarah Palin’s Facebook Fans Say Backing Donald Trump Is Disingenuous

...

The former Alaska governor maintains a community of millions of Facebook fans, and while some cheered her backing of Mr. Trump, others called her a sellout who was only seeking another moment in the political spotlight.

"Very sorry to see that Sarah Palin has decided that being a maverick is more important than being a conservative," said Dale Roberts, of Calvert City, Ky. "Trump supports gay marriage. He is pro abortion. He is anything but a conservative."

John Guy Lockwood Burpee, of Fort Worth, said that he was disappointed that Mrs. Palin would be...

Sarah was ALWAYS a maverick within the Republican party, even before she became Governor of Alaska, taking on the Republican AND democrat lawmakers who were pretty much in the pocket of the Big Oil lobbyists. That broke a huge logjam and got the payments from the extracted oil going to the people of Alaska, not just the monied interests or simply being dumped in the state coffers.

In 2008 McCain was perceived as being at cross purposes with most of the rest of the Republican party, or at that was how his reputation was painted. So “maverick” was paired with “maverick”.

But Sarah was always much more bold in her declarations, and McCain was reduced to a pale shadow at her side, suddenly going all mealy-mouthed and fawning in the presence of the Halfrican, the “new face” of the Democrat party. McCain would not have gotten nearly the vote he did, if it had not been for Sarah. I figured, two years into the Presidency, the job would take such a toll on McCain he would keel over and Sarah would become the President to fill out his term, an altogether pleasant retropective.

I have no problem whatsoever with Sarah’s endorsement of The Donald, and it is an excellent platform from which to move to a position within the Trump Cabinet, perhaps best at Department of the Interior, or, though it may be quickly disbanded and its powers dispersed, the Department of Energy.

[Trump is] in favor of massive ethanol subsidies.

You mean like Reagan?

The years 1980 to 1984 (Ronald Reagan was the U.S. president) were an active period for ethanol policies, including extension of the ethanol tax credit, an increase in the ethanol subsidy to 50 cents per gallon, insured loans for small ethanol producers, price guarantees, and purchase agreements for federal agency use of gasohol. In 1984, the subsidy was increased from 50 to 60 cents per gallon.

That doesn’t make it right. Republicans are just another variant of welfare pigs, jostling for space at the public trough. Disgusting.

Trump gave smiling guided tours of Trump tower to ADULT dreamers. If all you have is that Ted was kind to kids their scumbag parents dragged across the border, you’re more pathetic than the average liberal.

Funny coming from a guy that always backs the lesser evil no matter what. If you wanted to do better you’d elect conservatives.

As to Ted doing better, you can either help that along or continue supporting lesser evils. Your choice.

Thank you for making the point that you folks are abject hypocrites. One set of standards for Trump; another set of standards for Cruz. Makes life much simpler for you folks, doesn’t it?

Cruz is a sitting U.S. Senator; Trump was a private citizen.

Sarah is was a huge bit of fresh air to conservatives when he was brought into the spotlight. For such a no name politician her intelligence, charisma and integrity made her a household name.

She is not going to put her reputation on the line for Trump unless she really believes in what she says. Like me, he is not as conservative as she would like, but she thinks he is the only one that has a chance at making America Great Again.

That means turning back the hands of time, and undoing a lot of harmful policies and actions done by the kingmakers and their puppets.

Like many people with talent, when they take on various jobs, they grow into that job in a way one could never imagine. Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and probably everyone of the patriotic founding fathers are in that group. Scott Walker from Wisconsin also fits that mold.

Not the point. If you backed a conservative, we’d get a conservative to go against the Dems in the general. But you, and others, never do that and so we end up with someone other than a conservative. After seeing the result of that over and over, sane people stop doing that.

Then you come here bitching about the result of your actions and how America is a mess. Well Duh. You pushed ‘lesser evil’ all the way through the cycle and got evil.

What is she going to do when he is a Democrat again and he bashes her? People change, but someone with no core principles is not to be trusted.

She is not going to put her reputation on the line

She screwed up big time last year endorsing someone who is basically a Democrat and who is governing from the left in last year's Alaskan gubernatorial race. She endorsed him and he owed her nothing and screwed her and Alaska.

I gave her a pass on that one, but this is too damaging to the country. And just like that Alaskan candidate, Trump owes her, conservatives, and the country nothing. He can screw us over any way.
