Oberlin President Tells Complaining Students To Take A Hike

Oberlin College's president released a statement refusing to even consider a 14-page list of demands submitted by student activists, one of the most significant shows of defiance in the past few months to a wave of intense campus activism.

The list of demands at Oberlin, released in mid-December, is one of the most extreme seen at any college in the past two months. Among other things, the list demands the firing of several school employees, creation of segregated black-only safe spaces, a school stipend for protest leaders, and the creation of a bridge program to educate released convicts at the school. The list's authors are anonymous, but several hundred students signed a Google Doc endorsing it.

Now, over a month later, Oberlin president Marvin Krislov has responded with a harsh tone. In his response, Krislov says the tone of the demands is utterly unacceptable, even if the document raises some valid concerns. As a result, he simply refused to directly engage with any of the list's demands.

"Afrikana" students? If you don't like it here Afrikanas, then go to your ancestral countries/homes and see how they treat demands like you just made.

Yep, they don't know how good they have it. I remember reading about some AA's that took a trip to Africa, and upon returning to the US they literally kissed the ground.

If manufacturers can be held legally liable for faulty products, colleges should be held liable for faulty graduates.

And of course don’t forget their left-wing parents or even grandparents who went to Oberlin in the 60’s, 70’s ....

Anyone know what ‘safe spaces’ are?

A public area where they will not be looked at or spoken to or offended in any way. They don’t like when others use their freedom of speech around them. If they want that they should stay in their dorm.

That's a good idea...

Thanks you for taking the time to write that down. Given your defn I think their demands are very unrealistic.

He should have expelled them on the spot. They don’t like the rules, then they’re free to leave.

The proper response is;

To the Student Body:

You will return to class or face expulsion.

To the Africana mob:

If you engage in any disruption of the college operations (i.e. take over a building, etc.) you will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, further you will be summarily expelled.

I was on Jury Duty a week ago. Thre were many stundets among the prospective jurors. As they asked to be excused, the jusde asked them where the attended, and what they were studying. Every one of the blacks in the Jury Pool were taking liberal arts, or “ ethnic studies”. None of them were doing engineering, math, or hard sciences.

creation of segregated black-only safe spaces

If you have any familiarity with FBI crime stats, you'd have an idea of how catalytically ironic that above is. Epic irony.

I’m stunned. Oberlin is about as doctrinaire Liberal as it gets.
