Bob Dole: "I question [Cruz's] allegiance to the party,"
Bob Dole: "I don't know how [Cruz's] going to deal with Congress," he said. "Nobody likes him."
Bob Dole: "Mr. Trump could "probably work with Congress, because he's, you know, he's got the right personality and he's kind of a deal-maker."
Hey, Bob? First, let me congratulate you on your huge, blowout 1996 win over Bill Clinton, 'kay? And second, let me add a smaller congratulation over your having been chosen "Mr. Personality" in the U.S. Senate four years running. That's quite a mark.
And lastly, let's remember how you erased Ronnie's big tax cuts that kicked off the 1981-2001 bull market by passing DEFRA and TEFRA tax-increase bills, mostly to discipline Ronnie for having failed to "run it by Randy" and "bounce it off Bob" before daring to kick off the tax-cut movement.
Anybody can kick-start 20 years of prosperity, but only a real jerk would try to do it without Bob Dole in the room. TEFRA and DEFRA were the cure for bad behavior and "acting out of turn" -- and, "it's not your turn".
