That should read “putting forth”... 19 years of Free Republic, and the only thing that has changed is that quotes have gone screwy. Can we ever get an Edit function here??
I’ve found this works for me (if I don’t forget), doing a “Preview” and look at the preview pane closely and fix any weirdness. Then preview again to make sure it was fixed. Finally post and it comes through without the funny characters.
Eh, the auto-closing of HTML tags was a huge improvement. But its unchangingness is part of its charm.
