The Detroit Public Schools is seeking a temporary injunction against teachers after sick-outs closed 88 schools in Detroit today - the largest in a string of teacher protests.
The district is seeking relief in the Michigan Court of Claims, naming among the 28 defendants Steve Conn, the ousted leader of the teacher's union, interim president Ivy Bailey, and several groups including DPS Teachers Fight Back.
Teacher absences forced 88 Detroit schools to close today, the largest sick-out meant to call attention to large class sizes, dilapidated buildings and other problems in Michigan's largest school district.
The sick-out idled most of Detroit Public Schools' 46,000 students. It came on the same day President Barack Obama was visiting the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall.

Along with the hue and cry over the water in Flint, this is an orchestrated Union/Democrat attempt to drive Gov. Snyder from office, arrest Scott Walkerism in its tracks, and campaign nationally against the EEEEEEEVILS of Republican Austerity.

They are missing out on free breakfast and lunch which is essentially what public schools offer today.

The teachers didn’t show up?............nobody noticed.
Students are probably not missing out on much.
That will teach them...or not.

Not the least of which is the arrogance to think that another country can’t design and build better automobiles...and the list of US Business arrogant business decisions is not short.
With a drowning economy, education unfortunately suffers
Nobody’s learning anything in the Detroit school system anyway, at least this should save some electricity.
Will anyone notice if Detroit kids don’t go to school?
When I was a kid, we always wanted to stay home from school.
District officials are so brave. /s
