In an astonishing political development, as a CNN/WMUR poll shows Bernie Sanders defeating Hillary Clinton by an astounding 27 points in the New Hampshire primary and an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll finds him defeating Donald Trump in the general election by a whopping 15 points, a long list of prominent Clinton supporters has launched an all-out negative attack against Mr. Sanders reminiscent of the red-baiting attacks Richard Nixon once deployed against liberals.
First, a caution to readers: these polls show definite trends that should bring joy to the hearts of Sanders supporters and dread to the hearts of Team Clinton, but trends in campaigns and results in polls will shift many times in a presidential election.

Sanders surge is a bigger surprise than Trump. Trump is a moderate overall on his political positions. Bernie is a socialist - communist actually who traveled to back the Sandanistas and Soviets.
Yet he's "Uncle Bernie" to the media and a sideshow with them selling Hillary as the inevitable nominee.
There’s no way that a poll showing Sanders winning the general election can be credible. It defies common sense.
Comrade Bernie needs to be careful. Ask Vince Foster why.
Reminds me of Stalin vs Trotsky.
Sanders would get destroyed in the general.
But if Hillary is indicted, do they go to a brokered convention to bring in Biden? Biden is too late to get his name on the ballot in many states.
Hillary Clinton on the left, Jeb Bush on the right, and John McCain in The Twilight Zone can’t seem to come to terms with the fact thet they’re all utterly irrelevant.
We live in a country that twice elected a half-Kenyan socialist Muslim. The 47% like their free stuff.
“Thereâs no way that a poll showing Sanders winning the general election can be credible. It defies common sense.”
Biden will be the nominee.
Hillary will be indicted; and no way they let Comrade Sanders get the nomination.
Maybe the Dem voters think that they are supporting Colonel Sanders instead?
Free chicken may be coming their way if he wins.
But the Democratic Party is growing through a painful but necessary cerebral reexamination of the values it holds dear.
At least that's how the NY Times presents it. To a common layman like myself, it looks like the tired corrupt leadership of both parties is under siege. The major difference is the real struggle between competing visions trying to assume control of the Republican Party vs. the battle between the old corrupt crony-capitalists and the even older but less corrupt socialists in the Democratic Party.
Well put.
The elites of both parties are at war with the voters. They need the voters, but they don’t want the voters to have any real power.
That’s why voters in BOTH parties are now trying to get an outsider in to shake things up.
But Republicans are “angry”; Democrats are just young and naive.
Free college, canceled college debt, free healthcare.
Who is paying for it?
“The rich.”
Thank you!
Don’t bet on it. If we go back to the Ford/Carter economy people will vote for another Roosevelt in a heartbeat.
Bernie Sanders IS where the CENTER of the Democrat Party is these days politically. They have moved twelve paces to the left since the Golden Age of the Clintoon Presidency.
I think that poll showing Sanders 15 points ahead of Trump was anomaly/bogus. (It least I hope so or else we will have to turn off the country’s lights). Also if I am correct the Observer is a crazy left wing NYC alternative newspaper. However, I would love to see some more up to date Sanders vs Trump polling with more mainstream polling firms.
I don't know, Trump was endorsed by Palin, great for the Conservative base, a wedge between him and teetering liberals, Trump says it's sad that there are no Black nominees for the Oscars, good for pandering to the Blacks and then throws in the wedge with talking about(not saying he said it) how nobody complains that the BET awards are too Black, Just bringing that up drives a wedge between him and Blacks. It's like Trump has bipolar moments of WTF. I don't want to see him pander but he seems to then wants to reverse at the same time.
That is a great idea Sen McCaskill!!!!!
