Donald Trump said he doesn't think Sarah Palin would be interested in becoming his running mate and trying for a second time to become vice president.
"I don't think she'd want to do it," Trump said, although he added that he isn't thinking that far ahead.
Appearing on NBC's "Today" show on Wednesday morning after Palin's high-profile endorsement of his White House bid, Trump deflected repeated questions about the 2008 vice presidential candidate as a potential 2016 running mate.
Palin has not raised the matter with the GOP frontrunner.
"As far as Sarah is concerned, never asked me about that, never asked me about anything else, just wanted to support," Trump said.
"You know, I really don't get into it right now. That question is always asked to me, who do you have in mind, and I don't even think about VP right now," he said. "I just want to win. I've always been a closer."
But Trump said Palin could certainly be a part of his administration.
"Certainly there would be a role somewhere in the administration, if she wanted -- and I'm not sure that she does want that -- but there would certainly be a role."
Palin told CNN's Jake Tapper last September she might be interested in becoming energy secretary.

He said he might pick NE liberal RINO, Scott Brown.
The ideal strategy with VP picks is not to find a soulmate or fellow traveler. Quite the opposite, actually. The right man (or woman, I guess) can find you votes that may or may not have been there all along.
I agree. But Rubio does not fit Trump’s anti beltway agenda on so many issues. That will surely be noticed.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump picked a guy like Jim Webb. He checks a lot of boxes. Virginia, USMC, etc. But you are right that if Trump thinks he needs help in Florida then Rubio is the guy.
The douche that banned light bulbs? I don’t think so.
tard
Actually, aside from the fact that every Hispanic person I know hates Trump's guts, I think Trump does does play pretty well in Florida, home to a lot of transplanted NYers.
However, even where Trump beats Rubio in the South, Rubio does outperform his numbers versus northern States. Rubio could be helpful in the Carolinas and Georgia, and he may be worth a few Hispanic votes in AZ and New Mexico.
The more I think about it, the more I think that if I were Donald Trump I would be giving Marco a lot of thought.
Only if he wants to ally himself with limp-wristed liars, sure.
Rush had it right but he missed one thing. She's definitely doing this because the GOP has done nothing but hammer her so she wants to be part of the Trump movement. Which really means she's doing this for herself because you can't push conservative values and back a man who just a few short years ago was a registered Democrat and was pro choice, pro amnesty, pro progressive tax, pro Canadian health care.
I guess everyone has their price.
This is not meant to be a knock on Donald Trump, but I do hope you realize that he lies all the time.
“Trump didnât ‘dodge’ a damn thing.”
No he didn’t.
First off, it is way pre-mature for any candidate to name a VP.
Secondly, he pretty much answered no.
An honest headline would be: Trump Indicates Palin Won’t Be His VP Pick.
I predict that whomever he picks there will be voluminous threads decrying how he betrayed us.
I would not be shocked if he picked Carly but plenty of people here would be outraged.
It’s NOT us to us to decide, but you will be surprised and really happy!!!
No, she’s not. She’s friggin’ nuts!
Did you read her book, “Going Rogue?”
No.
Why did you say, “she appears unhealthy?” She looks fine.
Yup, Cruz and Al...match made in heaven!
This post is just more Hot Air B$.
That’s unfortunate. You would have an insight as to her views on energy.
Almost always I will not buy a book by a currently running candidate. Even if I support them, I consider it to be “glow” stuff. And I fully supported Palin.
