Today we saw someone who was once a rising star in the conservative world explode in an inglorious display of crass opportunism.
Sarah Palin, that darling of a failed John McCain presidential bid, has resurfaced to throw her voice and her support behind the gilded toad of the GOP, Donald Trump. Where she was once a strong Tea Party leader, promoting free market ideas, limited government, and power back in the hands of the people, today she forsook it all, in favor of a big government, foul mouthed, Wall Street liberal with atrocious hair.
Far too often, we see that power corrupts and fame can be an intoxicating drug. Palin and her family became a political hot topic in 2008, targeted by comedians and tabloids, as well as the conservative punditry, anxious to foist this fresh, bold, "Mama Grizzly" into the limelight, and to sweep up ratings for themselves along the way. For a bit, it worked. Voters and TV execs alike were enthralled by she and her whole family. Daughter Bristol, as an unwed mother to a beautiful baby boy, even wrote a book about abstinence and toured the nation to give the warning to wait, don't do what she did, learn from her poor judgment! She even got a reality TV show out of it for a short while.

Do we really have to promote this kind of commentary here? “Go Home, Sarah. Youâre Drunk.” Really? I’m a Cruz supporter, and I’m getting sick of this crap. I’m not a Trump fan, and only a Palin fan to a limited extent, but I think we really need to back off this kind of stuff.
So Sarah Palin may support someone you don’t. Is that really a reason to attack her in this way? I think not, but then that’s just IMO.
If she came out and endorsed kasich or bush wouldnt everyone one here dissavow her
Excellent post.
Kind of sad to witness all the people going apoplectic on each other over this. It makes conservatives look like a bunch of poo-flinging toddlers, usually characteristics that are reserved for leftist “comedians”.
Personally, I’ve become convinced that if it were ever to make it to a higher court, Ted would fail to meet the criteria for NBC if the spirit of our laws were to be maintained. Also, just something about having a President born in another country rubs me the wrong way. I see the tired argument made time and time again that the Founders weren’t US citizens, but that ignores the fact that they were all born in territories that joined the US at its formation. (I’m ignoring Obama birtherism here, since the charge that he was born in Kenya has gone largely unproved, and I never voted for him anyway.)
I like Ted and I think he has a useful purpose to serve in government, and I’ll vote for him if he gets the nod. But I would hate for the nominee to make it all the way through the convention and then be disqualified, so my Florida primary ballot will go to Trump.
Seems like some Cruz supporters have formed the ISIS branch of the Republican party and off with anyones head that is not a “true” believer.
SO sums him up.
He may be nominated. If so, he will be destroyed in the General.
Sad that this is where Conservatism has lead us.
From Google: Susan Wright is an American woman from Houston, Texas, who made headlines in 2003 for stabbing her husband, Jeff Wright, 193 times and then burying his body in their backyard.
Having read this crazy article, imagine my surprise to find that the raving mad and rabid author is not the murderer, Susan Wright.
Perhaps they were separated at birth.
I think we can chalk it up to Shut-Uppery.

They are all worried that Sarah will do for Trump, what she did for McCain.
I was sort of shocked that Rush had him sub for him during Christmas break.
Also taken at a time when Ann was our "conservative darling".
Since Ann has gone looney - we no longer see that, do we?
You may do as you like. Are you suggesting that those of us who disagree have no right to express that?
Red State has jumped the shark. There articles have no resemblance to the truth. Just agenda driven blather.
You have wasted 24 years if you learned nothing. Rush laid it out exactly right today.
Nope. Just pointing out that you Trump supporters aren't as even-handed in your tolerance as you think you are. The hateful things Trump says don't seem to bother you, but let someone write an article about Palin's quest to be drunk with power/attention and y'all become apoplectic. Hypocrisy much?
I don’t like Trump but I don’t like Susan Wright any better.
But calling Palin a drunk on FR, nope, that's an entirely different matter. Not comparable at all. IMHO, of course.
I think our conversation is over. Good day.
