Jim Geraghty dives down the memory hole to remind us what Donald Trump was saying just a few short years ago, in an interview with Larry King:...

Right.
Because he also refuses to make any structural changes to the entitlement programs that are running out of money, promises that the government will guarantee health care for everyone (making his replacement even worse than Obamacare), and supports continuation of business subsidies. And that to your list of promises, and the deficit will explode faster than you can say Trump Casino. While the entitlements go bankrupt.
The real secret to Trump's popularity is the same as that of many politicians -- he tells people exactly want they want to hear, whether it is possible or not. Mexico will not pay for that Wall, Social Security and Medicare will run out of money, and crony capitalism will be thrown into truly high gear.
Oh hell, he's also going to slap huge tariffs on all Chinese goods, which will greatly raise prices to American consumers, while low-cost producers other than China step in to fill that gap.
But he's saying what people want hear, so possible or not, he's got a path to the nomination.
“One of Trumpâs defining characteristics is that he is completely full of sh!t”
Well, to ME, “one of Trump’s defining characteristics” is that he gets up there and tells the truth as he sees it - let the chips fall where they may. I’ve been waiting my entire LIFE for a candidate who does this, and haven’t seen anyone remotely like it since Reagan.
If YOU see that as “completely full of sh!t,” it’s your OPINION - not a fact - and simply the result of your perception, which I believe is wrong.
This is proof Trump will get in office then do a complete flip-flop: Single payer health care, support ISIS, trashes veterans, increases the debt, disbands the military, opens the border and amnesty all illegals. Eventually he will announce he is the anti-Christ, and declares himself Czar of the World.
Can’t stand the Tea Party? He pretty much said just the opposite.
Who wrote the headline?
His comments on Obama — flattery, were just after he won the election and could possibly be, as far as winning against the odds, certainly true. The odds being, of course, he had never held a job.
Rush pointed out yesterday, most of the Republicans were saying the same thing, including Rich Lowery.
His comment about the Tea Party is 180 degrees off from that headline.
1. There are some he CAN'T deliver on.
2. There are some he MIGHT deliver on.
3 (tie) - There are some he has no interest in delivering on.
3 (tie) - There are some he WILL deliver on.
The best we can hope for is that the fourth item on the list breaks the tie with the third, or that he's more successful with the MIGHT category than I expect.
Listen folks, The past is the past. Our country is dying...I am only interested in today and what is coming tomorrow and, in the future!!! You are, we are, what we are today...forged from the success and flaws and mistakes from our past. That is the circle of life....hopefully you learn from your mistakes and do not repeat them as you head into yoru future!!! End of story!!!
GO DONALD TRUMP!!!
There's a sucker born every minute.
Pretty refreshing to see someone from New Jersey call it like he sees it. Yes, I think Trump is full of himself and full of Ca-Ca.
When he gets in there, the tale will be told. I hope he truly had a change of heart and turned conservative. For the sake of this nation, I hope we are right.
... Heâs going to build a wall, secure the border, deport illegals, repeal Obamacare, cut taxes for working people, and protect the second amendment, rebuild the military and defend Christianityâbut heâs not conservative enough. Right.
So he is going to deport illegals and fast track them right back in.. You do realize he said that don’t you?
You trust him to appoint conservatives to the courts after he trashed Scalia and suggested his liberal sister?
And you trust him although he came up with those ideas after his campain started although he has more contradictions in his past believes than 465 members of congress combined?
And then you have Cruz who fought against the UN and the Bush establishment in the SC and won.
Cruz won four other SC court cases, ALL in support of conservative values and against the progressive onslaught.
Can you find any instance of Reagan belittling anyone, much less anyone who doesn’t kiss his butt like donnie does?
Have you ever heard Cruz belittle anyone?
Donnie is not a conservative. His supporters do not care.
I do.
I’d love to have a conservative as President, but right now, even more than that, we need a nationalist.
Look, I'm not alone in this. A whole lot of people, especially those who read fairly quickly, refuse to watch that stuff for exactly the reasons I gave. It's like back when the Truthers were out there, and they'd tell you to watch such and such a video that would just prove it was an inside job by Bush, the CIA, and/or the Israelis.
I've looked at that thread before. Yes, people are discussing what they think about the video (almost all supporters) but that still doesn't provide hard words of what he actually says in it that - supposedly - is so persuasive.
Excellent video.
He’s a salesman, dude. He tells every audience exactly what they want to hear. He bears striking similarities to Bill Clinton in that regard.
You want a kids toy, not a President. I'll take the consistently conservative candidate.
I love that cat. But Trump, a powerful candidate, is bringing the populist (read: not-so-Constitutionally-conservative) out of a lot of FReepers. Itâs a FRee country I suppose.
And Barack Obama brought the not so Constitutional conservative out in Ted Cruz when he campaigned for Obama’s Legacy TPA/TPP in the U. S. Senate a few a months ago.
I should add that video is nearly an hour and 15 minutes long. I mean...come on.
This was a Larry King Show on April 15th 2009 the first big Tea Party march after Obama took office..
"KING: You're not going to march with the tea party?
TRUMP: I don't march with the tea party. But I'll tell you what, they have a good point, because when you see the kind of money that this country is â to use a horrible expression, Larry, I know you've never heard this, but that this country is pissing away, I can understand where they're coming from."
I don't think Sarah sold her soul, not so sure about you.
“He’s electable”

Losing against Clinton and Sanders
I should add that video is nearly an hour and 15 minutes long. I mean...come on.
I found it fascinating, and it seemed to zip right by. But I can follow a long argument, one that doesnt fit on a bumper sticker.
Sorry for you.
TRUMP: I dont march with the tea party. But Ill tell you what, they have a good point, because when you see the kind of money that this country is ââ¬â to use a horrible expression, Larry, I know youve never heard this but that this country is pissing away, I can understand where theyre coming from.
More importantly, the original article was April 15 2009, when the TParty was having its first marches and demonstrations right after Obama was elected.
