The most damage to Cruz is being done by the media raising the expectations for him in Iowa.
They are making it look like a disaster if he doesn’t win there.
Isn't it a disaster for Cruz if he doesn't win Iowa? Cruz is in fourth place in N.H.. So he will quickly lose momentum after two losses.
Lesson - Don’t go after big corn...
No, Cruz’s strategy is dependent on the Texas, et al primary.
Iowa, is huge, however.
NH, not so much.
So if Cruz wants this, he needs to get out there and work for it. I am still mad that he allowed that liberal judge to be sworn in, in Michigan two days ago. That is why I think anyone with a job running for President should resign their position before running and that includes Rubio and Christie among others. They cannot do both effectively.
Cruz made a big mistake getting into a pissing match with Trump. He has lost Iowa and now will fade. Sad really.
It is a disaster for him if he doesn’t win there. Trump would run the tables from there on out.
It’s unfortunate we play the first 2 games of the season in blue states. Both Iowa and NH were +6 for Caliph Baraq in 2012.
That really needs to change.

If he and Cruz split Iowa and NH, then I think there's a better horserace.
In my neck of the woods (SE Tennessee) I know of many Trump supporters. In the unofficial bumper-sticker poll, I haven't seen one for Cruz, which is surprising.
I have seen a lot for Bernie, which is really surprising.
It is a disaster for him if he doesnt win there [Iowa]. Trump would run the tables from there on out.
Trump can lose Iowa and still keep his front-runner status nationally and in upcoming states like NH, SC and Florida.
But if Trump WINS Iowa, I think he WINS the nomination, with the subsequent states falling into place quite easily.
Not realistically.
1 or 2 in Iowa, 3 or 4 in NH, 2 in SC- that leaves him the viable choice vs Trump.
That was about his expectation all along to that point.
How a candidate does in an early primary means whatever the media say it does.
They may make the ‘hero’ someone who comes in 3 in Iowa (or elsewhere), but exceeds expectations- the expectations they created.
Yeah, was disappointed Trump promised to keep Iowa first last night.
No candidate is going to say otherwise before the caucus, but he didn’t have to say anything.
Well....someone from his campaign from San Diego woke me up this morning with "an important message from Ted Cruz"....I went back to sleep.
And that's why our country is screwed. We need leaders who are willing to say "no" to a lot of people who are not accustomed to hearing that word. The problem is that anyone receiving a "freebie" (and yes, I know there are in reality no such things) from the government will NEVER, EVER vote for someone who threatens to take it away.
So the voters will continue to vote for their eventual bankruptcy. Fine. Go ahead. I won't get in their way. We need a good hard crash to bring people to their senses. A painful, but inevitable lesson to learn.
Likewise, I’m stunned by how little support is shown for Cruz here just above Kingsport.
These should be ‘his people’.
Of course, by the time Tennessee gets to vote, he might be out of the race. They might go to Cruz then.
