Glenn Frey, a founding member and guitarist of the Eagles, has died ... TMZ has learned. Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. Glenn co-wrote and sang most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band. After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City." Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on "Miami Vice." He reunited with the Eagles in '94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, "After Hours," in 2012. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery, but it appears he was never able to bounce back. Glenn was 67. RIP.

Heaven will have a “67 to 70” musical section soon.
The Eagles were supposed to receive the Kennedy Center Honor this year, but declined because Glenn Frey was sick. They said they'd wait until next year when Glenn was well and could join the rest of the band for the ceremony.
Had a bad feeling when I heard that.
Don’t forget Lemmy.
bttt
It seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table, but you only want the one(s) that you can't get . . ."
After hearing that song for about the 149th time, I finally asked her.
Don’t remember him at all as an actor. Ted Nugent with Arielle Dombasle OTOH... (in “Miami Vice”).

The guitarist will undergo surgery for intestinal issues. Blames ‘burgers and beer and blow and broads.’
Those issues date back to the 1980s, when Frey spoke about the damage he believed he had done to his body during the band’s heyday, when drugs and alcohol flowed freely. In 1988, he told the Detroit Free Press he had been hospitalized with diverticulitis at one point.
“It’s from burgers and beer and blow and broads ‘ all the bad stuff I’d been doing to myself,” said Frey
How Godly of you.
They were never the same after Randy Meisner left. His harmony defined the Eagles sound.
Yay! Bravo!
“I got sick of my job, sick of my wife
Sick of my future and sick of my life
Packed up my car and I got some gas
Told everybody they could kiss my ass
I’m going to Partytown!
Yeah, Yeah!”
RIP Glenn. That was a great song to dance to.
Frey always said Henley was the better singer. The Golden Throat.
Henley can “explain” HOTEL CALIFORNIA all he wants but if you listen to the lyrics it’s about drug addiction.
A friend of mine re-mastered “Hotel California” for gold CD.
The tape material used in the original recording was such bad quality he had to literally bake the tapes to get them to playback. It was only a temporailarily solution as additional bakings were required.
End result was the best sounding version of Hotel California.
I’m with the Dude. I can’t stand the whining sound of the Eagles.
“Don Henley’s gonna tell me how to vote. I don’t f...ing think so, ok? I got two words for Don Henley, Joe F...ing Walsh, ok!? Thanks for calling, Don! How long’s your pony tail now? Ok!
-Dennis Leary (From ‘No Cure for Cancer’)
He checked out at a time he probably didn’t like, but at least he was able to leave.
RIP Glenn.
He changed the wording in one line, I believe.
