One of the United States' most influential evangelical leaders blasted Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. on Monday for hosting Donald Trump to give a campaign speech.
Russell Moore, who heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, let fly a series of tweets after Falwell gave a glowing introduction to Trump, calling him "one of the greatest visionaries of our time" and saying Trump "lives a life of helping others ... as Jesus taught in the New Testament."
Moore appeared incredulous at Falwell's language, which was more effusive than he had been with any other candidate, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz:
Jerry Falwell was spot on!!!....God bless him!!
The audience, students were intelligent, perceptive, discerning enough to know the truth when they hear it!!!!!...God bless them!!!!!!
GO TRUMP!
I never heard of “Moore”. How do we define “Evangelical” ? Can we have the elemental criteria so we can then know if this jerk is even an “evangelical”?
I tell you , these people are going to end up forcing America into another prolonged Liberal socialist nightmare , just because they can’t have the Bible thumper of their choice
My tithes help pay this guy’s salary. He better not make a choice in this. Cruz is never mentioned in Sunday School, its Trump
Gee, why don’t we get a guy who actually teaches Sunday School, you know, someone like, Jimmy Carter.
They hosted Romney too... another RINO.
Yes that is it. Sounds like you support a my religion is better than your religion food fight. I agree versus Islam but otherwise grow up.
Yes! I’ll balance it out;
Did you see this;
Ted Cruz”s Father: My Son “Anointed” To “Take Control of Society”.

I’ll still happily vote for Ted if he is the nominee.
Get your facts right...
.....attendance is mandatory.....but you can have one excused absent.
HOWEVER, the attendance record was broken today with the packed house PLUS overflow venues around the campus.
Thank God we have Politico looking out for our best interests.
He speaks for a lot of Southern Baptists, and evangelicals in general. I was a student there, in the law school. I promise you Trump is on much shakier ground among the students and faculty of the law school than he is among the general population. Our law school was formed by Jerry Falwell as part of his vision to reclaim and repopulate the legal profession with people who understood and honored the Judeo-Christian roots of our legal system, and among such folks Trump could never gain a foothold.
Peace,
SR
Did this evangelical leader also get his briefs twister because Trump said TWO Corinthians instead of Second???
Wow that guy is loaded with assumptions.
People come here to gain information and they see these ‘unhinged’ people making all these snarky remarks and say...”That's a Cruz supporter? I don't want any part of that” and you just lost another supporter to another candidate that will welcome he/she with open arms....
Your doing a great job there, keep it up, I know as a 100% Trump supporter, we'll take all and then some....
Uh no he did not, he’s also had Cruz among others speak at the university.
Hey, guys, no shoes, no service!
lol
In is own words: Trump on his admiration for Hillary and Bill Clinton
Attended LU for my undergrad, I am considering going back for law school. What you wrote makes sense since Donald Trump isn’t that conservative, and I doubt would adhere to the U.S. Constitution the way other candidates would.
