One of the United States' most influential evangelical leaders blasted Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. on Monday for hosting Donald Trump to give a campaign speech.
Russell Moore, who heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, let fly a series of tweets after Falwell gave a glowing introduction to Trump, calling him "one of the greatest visionaries of our time" and saying Trump "lives a life of helping others ... as Jesus taught in the New Testament."
Moore appeared incredulous at Falwell's language, which was more effusive than he had been with any other candidate, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz:
A great day on the campaign trail with my daughter, Ivanka Trump. Here we are in New Hampshire this afternoon. I am proud of all my children, and grateful for their support. They will do a great job with the organization - should I have the honor to be your #POTUS. Thank you for a terrific day!Posted by Donald J. Trump on Monday, January 18, 2016
A lot of the social justice Christians these days are calling and defining themselves as evangelicals but they are not strict Bible believers. They are seizing the definition for themselves.
CAVEAT EMPTOR .... you’re buying “as is” .... and there will be no do-overs!
My understanding is that he is a closet Democrat liberal, as is Rick Warren. Correct me if I am wrong.
Jesus is our only salvation. These people are thieves from the Son of God. They are thieves of God. God knows.
Well, my reading, so far, is going in a slightly different direction. He’s written some good things about how we have to stand strong against gay marriage no matter how hard it gets. On racial issues he seems to want to be a peace-maker, and that’s not a bad thing, but it can give some bad optics. But I try to be a peace-maker too.
The only thing I’ve found so far that actually raised my eyebrows was his understanding of Alabama Judge Roy Moore’s position on the gay marriage issue. Both men oppose gay marriage, but apparently Russell Moore thinks the good judge should resign if he can’t enforce the law. That’s worthy of a wince. It reflects a poor understanding, IMHO, of how the law should work in that scenario. I think Judge Moore was right to stick with Alabama constitutional provisions in an area not enumerated to the federal power, i.e., marriage.
But Russell Moore is not a constitutional scholar, just an ethicist, so I could write that off as a lack of understanding. But given his powerful position within the SBC, I’d say he’s obligated to either not get involved in things he doesn’t understand, or else to come up to speed so he can make the right call and not give the SBC cause for concern.
Peace,
SR
agreed
You need to listen, as it wasn’t that way at all. But delusions can be fun; have at it.
If you haven’t watched this, watch it. About 3 minutes with Mr. Cruz himself.
Cruz trustworthy?

YAWN ...Ask me if I care.
........”They can do what they want outside, but they are going to be making fools of themselves,” said [Jerry] Falwell [Jr.], who suggested few Liberty students support the demonstrations......”
Some Christians will claim the only way to be a good christian is to be a mealy mouthed amnesty supporter.
..Dr Richard Land was run out of office by the PC police at the SBC —Moore was his replacement...
Agree. How childish.
Some of these so-called Christian leaders are acting like anything but.
Really pathetic.
Do they all belong to that Dominionism sect, now? Scary.
Thanks for posting the actual facts :)
I try :)
Thanks for setting the record straight!
You ‘re welcome!
Actually, I think Jerry Falwell would be especially grateful for Trump and what he’s accomplishing....
...certainly his son thinks so.
Maybe you don’t remember, Falwell was considered the non pc firebrand in those days, and much beloved for it from Christians....
...but denounced, ridiculed by the media.
I think he has a kindred spirit in Trump!
