Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) said Monday that the birthplace of Sen. Ted Cruz is "fair game," adding to a growing chorus questioning whether the Texas Republican's Canadian birth could affect his ability to secure the GOP presidential nomination.
"When you run for president of the United States, any question is fair game. So let the people decide," Branstad told reporters Monday.
Cruz, speaking to reporters in Baton Rouge, La., noted that Branstad's son has thrown his support elsewhere, hosting fundraisers for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

No cover from the Iowa governor for Ted.
Trumps sure does spread that money around.
This is getting very ugly. We must all rally behind Trump now.
Yeah, another establishment dude like DT.
Nobody denies that Cruz was a citizen at birth, because of his parentage.
There is absolutely NO basis for concern about the PLACE of birth.
You cannot claim that Cruz must be born in the U.S. to be “natural born” and at the same time deny that “anchor babies” are “natural born citizens.”
I’m standing with Ted Cruz ...
Note that no one claiming Cruz is not eligible is giving his PRIOR definition of NBC, and then applying those PRIOR criteria to Cruz. They’re just raising “doubts” and “concerns.” In other words, they are just slime artists.
People sure don’t stick up for Cruz.
Cruz claims as a lawyer he is for original intent of our Constitution. Well, that is except for himself. See there are still enough Americans not deceived by the living breathing Constitution groupies, that know what natural born means under original intent... We who know what natural born means, under original intent, also know that a Harvard law school grad knows as well. It is just lazy and ignorant to blame anybody but Cruz.
“Trumps sure does spread that money around.”
That is right. Remember it is his own money and does not owe anyone anything.
First Huckabee, then Christie, Santorum and now Branstad, all going after Cruz.
I’m beginning to suspect that the Establishment has made their peace with The Donald, finding him more their kind than Cruz
Trump tried to warn Cruz that this would happen. Cruz just laughed it off.
Playing the same game the other side does? This is a week old article man! I thought it looked familiar. LOL.
better his than Goldman Sachs money
Make America Mexico Again!!
Please help Trump bring in Millions of New Democrat Voters through his Touch-Back Amnesty Plan.
I was kinda hoping we would all get behind candidate that will work to expand liberty and operate according to the constitution. If Cruz is declared to be ineligible by the USSC then so be it, until then he is still running and the best conservative in the contest. I still hope that America does not vote for a liberal or a tyrant. So no, it is not time to rally behind Trump but rally against the big-government liberal.
The world according to Trump:
Ted Cruz at 5% in the polls: nice guy, patriot, US citizen, I like him
Ted Cruz at 20%: nasty guy, everyone hates him, not a citizen
This issue is not going away. If Cruz gets the nomination, this issue will be with us in the general election.
