They can fit in under the old model of assimilation but not the new model. Go back two or three generations and think about all the Arab Americans who contributed to American life. They weren’t radicals. But over the past 30 or 40 years, America has stopped trying to assimilate because its “racist.” No one is forced to learn American culture and English and there is no social pressure to Americanize.
