That is good to hear and fits my prognostications on the future of education for those who want it.

You've hit a very important point. The technique I used plays nicely in a college environment where students are present because they want to learn. I don't think the compulsory public education system would do very well with it. I often started with 60 students in the class and finished with 35 that really wanted to learn the material. Part of that disparity is just due to the silliness of the course sign up system at the school.

In high school, I decided that I needed to leave the band and substitute chemistry to meet entrance requirements for UCSD. I did so 9 weeks into the school year. My dad insisted that I spend extra time studying to "catch up" with the class. The consequence is that I read every chapter and answered every question in the chemistry book in 3 1/2 weeks. An easy 'A' in a classroom full of seniors (12th) grade while I was a sophomore (10th grade). It is very much a matter of how sincerely you want to master the material.
