Columbia, South Carolina (CNN)Ted Cruz on Friday offered an extended "apology" to those offended by his criticism of "New York values," but rather than back down from his controversial comments, he instead slammed the Empire State's "liberal politicians."
Asked by reporters whether he wanted to apologize for saying this week that Donald Trump, his main 2016 rival, "embodies New York values," Cruz turned the tables, laying out a three-minute riff on things for which he would rather apologize.
"Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology, and I'm happy to apologize," he told reporters after an event here. "I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by the liberal politicians in that state."
Cruz then proceeded, in detail, to attack Cuomo, the governor of New York, for his disapproval of fracking, the controversial energy extraction process, while also aiming his sights on de Blasio, New York City's mayor, for his policies on taxes, charter schools and policing.
"I apologize to all the cops and the firefighters and 9/11 heroes who had no choice but to stand and turn their backs on Mayor de Blasio because Mayor de Blasio over and over again stands with the looters and the criminals rather than the brave men and women of blue," he said.

It might have been a nice response during the debate, but the piling on by the media and leftist pols from NY makes this the gift that keeps on giving.
1. Cruz is identified as being the enemy of Cuomo and DeBlasio.
2. It brings up multiple opportunities to slam the failed policies of the blue states over and over again.
He needs that sort of identification for Iowa and South Carolina. He can always make nice a bit before the general

So it took Ted half a day to respond to Trump’s NY defense? And he said it joyfully? Ted is the joyous turtle version 2.0.
Like I said earlier to a trumpet. There is no need to spin this from Cruz’s perspective. The Mouth of Manhattan has been check mated. Who does he stand for and with. Liberal N.Y. politicians and their policies or Conservatives?

It's not wise to attack Cruz unless you want your head handed to you.

Found out today the money that Cruz did not report was from Goldman Sachs and Citibank.
This is when Cruz was going after crony Capitalism on Wall Street in 2008. I guess you could sum it up as bribe money from Wall Street. Now we know why it was hidden.
Then Cruz coming out right before the debate and changing his stance on Snowden and the NSA spying on Americans. Seems like he was signaling to the Establishment that he is with them.
Finally, I think the entire thing about his birth in Canada will be used against him by a shopped Judge from the GOPe along with DNC if he became the nominee.
Think there is too much baggage here with Cruz, and makes me nervous when the Establishment is pushing him. They do not like Cruz and they WILL DOUBLE CROSS him.
The ultimate anti Establishment choice IMO right now would be a
Trump/Abbott 2016 ticket
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas would be a fantastic choice for a VP. He is BIG on the second Amendment and the U.S. Constitution. He would also help Trump carry Texas along with the rest of the South.
New York City stinks.

I love it.
Conservatives nation wide will sense that, and I think polls will trend accordingly.
But that was before he turned "conservative" and wanted our votes.
Things seem to be getting tough for Cruz. He’s not effectively dealing with the birther issue and he insulted New Yorkers. Time will tell but this could all be taking a toll on the guy. I like him but he needs to get it right, so to speak.
