Do most Americans like the idea of Lady Liberty making an obscene gesture? New Yorkers will undoubtedly prove they do with their dollar bills today and make the issue of the liberal New York Daily News with that image on its cover, her finger directed at Iowa GOP front-runner Ted Cruz, one of its best-selling editions ever.
Two years ago, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared that "conservatives who are right-to-life" and oppose liberal Democrats on gun control and same-sex marriage "have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."
New York City's leftist Mayor Bill de Blasio immediately said he agreed with Cuomo's exclusionist interpretation of New York values, adding that "an extremist attitude does not represent the views of the people of New York state."
The Daily News cover is a reference to its infamous Oct, 1975 cover, "Ford To City: Drop Dead," in which "New York values" apparently had to do with the rest of the country paying for the Big Apple's many years of profligate spending and saving it from bankruptcy.....

“New York Values” should be the rallying cry for all conservatives. Too bad many so-called conservatives are willing to put conservative values aside for their love of a New York jerk who says he is angry about some of the same things we are. I would not support Giuliani in 2008, and I won’t be fooled by the Trumpthumper today.
No worries NY, its just a generic term that can cover most large cities and most of us stupid people in flyover country were nodding in agreement.
If Cuomo and the communist DeBlasio are agreeing with Cruz, then that doesn’t say much for Cruz.

Good point. Rubes think that Trump cares about them. Once he has used them to gain the power he craves, he will wipe them off his Italian made shoes.
They are twisting and saying that NY values are conservative and discriminatory and those are not NYC values. I agree with them.

Cuomo is all the proof anyone needs in order to define New York values. Sadly the list does not stop there for evil politicians elected in the state.
For those not in the know. Cuomo is not embarking on a path for extended voting days in the state in order to be able rack up more illegal votes.
The republican response is to instead remove all restrictions on Absentee ballots. Just another method to rake up more illegal votes.

Read the context, they agree that there is an opposition between conservative values (pro-life, pro-2nd-Amendment, pro-traditiona-morality) values and New York values. Cruz (and I hope all of us here at FR) stand for the former, Cuomo and DeBlasio (and Bloomberg and Clinton) stand for the latter. Trump, while making many of the right noises since deciding on a run for the White House, over the course of his public life has stood for both or maybe for nothing in particular.
