Initially, I was a Cruz supporter until Trump entered and began speaking to the issues.

You and many others around here are going to be mighty disappointed in Trump if he wins because he's a liar and a con man.

This and "Ol' New York, New York" have probably finished Ted Cruz for this year. I believe firmly were he to get the nomination that this would have trailed him all the way to defeat in November. It's a painful fact for Cruzers I know, but one that should be admitted so we can get on with taking the White House in November. THE COUNTRY IS AT STAKE.

Along with his attempt at shutting down Planned Parenthood to take it away from the many people he would need votes from to win...

I agree with his position but he's got to be a little smarter to win...You're not going to get very far by wooing the far right of the populace and dissing everyone else...

Who would you trust to pick a Supreme Court Judge that is a strict Constitutionalist?

This is BY FAR the biggest risk with a President Trump. We simply don't know. Unfortunately we do not have an electable strict conservative in this cycle. The big problem is that the SCOTUS is already becoming a Progressive Court, as Kennedy has betrayed America on everything from Arizona's SB1070 to Ogberfell. And Roberts has betrayed on ObamaCare, beyond our worst nightmares. Two "conservative" justices down the drain.

Not necessarily. Simply believing that Cruz is ineligible for the Presidency doesn’t mean that they still won’t vote for him.

The right way to figure that out is to ask a followup to that 25% asking whether they’d still vote for Cruz as the nominee.

Trump is very loyal. He’ll go to bat for the people who backed him longest and hardest. At least that’s what people who know him best say.

Oh, and Cruz isn’t going to be Trump’s running mate anyways. Trump’ll pick a woman. If Trump wins both the nomination and the general Cruz could be Scalias replacement on the Supreme Court.

Speaking of the Supreme Court, I don’t think Cruz should trust them.

Roberts is a creep. I could imagine him stalling out the ruling until after the freaking election, and all the activist-leftist judges would put on pom-poms to cheer him.

Not saying that would happen, but it’s a gamble. Roberts acts like he has been blackmailed or something.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Therefore, what would be safest for Cruz to do is to debate Professor Laurence Tribe — to challenge him to a head-to-head fair-time no-moderator debate on this issue.
All Cruz supporters say that this is an easy issue to resolve. So?
Cruz is the best debator. Cruz is the most revered conservative constitutional scholar. And Professor Laurence Tribe? Far more respected than he deserves to be. Tribe would likely refuse to debate him.
~~~~~~~~~

Why Tribe?

Cruz already mocked Trump for mentioning the professor regarding this issue. Tribe is one of the top progressive constitutional scholars there is. Maybe THE top. Been that way for decades. By takeing him down, Cruz would get a feather in his cap, advance conservatism, deconsctruct progressive interpretation of the constitution, and END this issue once and for all.

If the supreme court meddles after that, Trump would be more than a mere president, but a champion — a titan who could then call for the Constitution to be amendmended and AND judicial tyranny once and for all.

BUT ... if Cruz lets this issue fester, he loses his reputation.

Trump is a smart guy. A good business man is generally a good salesman, which Trump also is. I just don’t understand so many people who desperately want to believe Trump.

Yes, Trump is far, far better than Hillary, but in my gut I think that once we are past the primary Trump would begin to go very squishy. If elected, I would bet Trump will be a near disaster on social issues. Picking Supreme Court nominees? Are you kidding?

The Cruz resume is growing in concern...

- Chose to NOT repudiate his Canadian citizenship when he ran for US Senate
- Dishonesty on TX financial filings
- Voted for TPA
- Voted for Corker bill (Iranian NUKES)
- No experience or accomplishments in private sector
- No experience in running/groing a company
- No experience in creating jobs for private sector
- Continues to avoid getting a clear, definitive ruling on NBC issue (if he;s so brilliant, he would have clarified (legally) BEFORE he annouinced for POTUS
- Robt Mercer, his $ sugar daddy, is a huge open borders supporter
- Joined his BFF, Glen Beck, in passing out Teddy Bears to ILLEGAL ALIEN INVADERS which incentivizes the ILLEGAL behaviour
- Only recently has he changed to using the “deport” word - which he has long avoided

A quarter of republicans are RINOS or LIEberals who push manufactured polls to promote one.

"You need to reread the blurb."

I read the blurb just fine the first time - my comment was specifically on the HEADLINE, that's why I used the word "headline" in my comment, and not the word "blurb".

‘I just don’t understand so many people who desperately want to believe Trump.’

You apparently think Trump is up to no good. That would mean the following:

1. Hannity is in on it.
2. Rush is in on it.
3. Herman Cain is in on it.
4. Senator Jeff Sessions is being duped.
5. Phyllis Schlafly is being duped.
6. And Michael Savage, probably the most paranoid anti-establishment talk radio host around, is also being duped.

I’m sure the list is even longer than that.

In the meantime, Trump was attacked during the response to the State of the Union Address by the ‘G’ OP. How ‘Wellstone Memorial’ of’em. About as strong an endorsement in Trump’s favor as you can get.

If there is any clue on earth that Trump is evil, Jeb Bush would had already exposed it by now. Easy these days to leak via proxy. Trump has destroyed the Bush Dynasty’s aura of power by hostile takeover.

Then there’s the ‘stream of consciousness’ open-book events. A super-villain doesn’t roll that way — too much to hide.

Tell me when was the last time NY voted for a Republican presidential candidate? Reagan, perhaps.

Picking Supreme Court nominees? Are you kidding?

Correct.

With Cruz and Trump standing side-by-side last night, the contrast was striking. Aside from a couple of answers, Trump was strictly amateur hour. Cruz was competent, knowledgeable and presidential.

Luntz' focus group chose him as the clear winner.

Trump made a strategic error by drawing attention to Cruz with his clumsy attacks on him. Only Rubio or Christie can keep up with Ted. Donald's pride and impetuousness got the better of him.

‘Or the headline could have read: “75% of Republicans think White House hopeful Ted Cruz is qualified to serve as U.S. president...”’

That couldn’t have been the headline bc it’s not even close to the poll’s results.

This was the strategy behind the accusation. Politically brilliant...creating doubt. And the object of the game is to win...

A debate resolves nothing. People just say ‘their guy’ won.
Look at the opinions here on last night’s debate!

The SC is in a sad state indeed.
However they’d be inclined to distort the Constitution in a way that would not disqualify Obama.
Which would make it nearly impossible to disqualify Cruz.
