Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz would beat rival Donald Trump in a theoretical head-to-head matchup, a new national poll from The Wall Street Journal and NBC News shows.
However, among all GOP candidates, Trump still holds a commanding lead as the first choice of 33 percent support nationally. Cruz takes second, with 20 percent.
Ok.
Then let Trump run on New York values.
And apply “New York values” to the rest of the country.
Is that what Free Republic has become???
A year ago most here would puke at the thought. Now its serious thought not to be questioned. Trump is moving the country right you say... No, it is you and his followers moving to the left and you refuse to see it.
Here is the article:
“......Trump has argued that Democrats could bring a lawsuit against Cruz serving in the White House because of his birth in Canada to an American mother.
When asked by Fox Business Network moderator Neil Cavuto why he wanted to bring the issue up now, Trump was open about the fact that it was because of Cruz’s rising poll numbers.
“Because now he’s doing a little bit better. No, I didn’t care before, it’s true,” Trump said to boos from the audience.
Cruz pushed back once again by noting his service as Texas’s solicitor general.
“I’ve spent my entire life defending the Constitution before the U.S. Supreme Court and I’ll tell you, I’m not going to be taking legal advice from Donald Trump,” he said.
When Trump noted that his former Harvard Law professor Lawrence Tribe agrees with him, Cruz brushed that aside too.
“Let me tell you who Larry Tribe is - he’s a left-wing, judicial activist, Harvard law professor who was Al Gore’s lawyer in Bush v. Gore, he’s a major Hillary Clinton supporter and there’s a reason why Hillary’s supporters are echoing Donald’s attacks on me - because Hillary wants to face Donald Trump in the general election,” he said.
“If this all works out, I’m happy to consider naming you as VP so if you happen to be right, you can get the top job at the end of the day,” Cruz joked.
Trump said he’d likely keep building buildings in such a scenario.
I don’t know what you are talking about.
Cruz is the one who came up with the stupid New York values attack.
Did Reagan represent Hollywood values because he was from Hollywood?
I can respect an effective attack but this is not it. Cruz blew it.
Damned straight.
Humorous how the GOP-e is compelled to support Cruz in hopes to defeat Trump.
May Trump and Cruz rise above the fray and kick the GOP-e in the teeth.
In 17 days we’ll see how much Ted Cruz eroded his position with his ‘New York values’ foot-in-the-mouth faux pas.
Seriously, I hope Ted Cruz DOES win Iowa, because if Trump were to win the Iowa caucuses, our resident Trump-hating trolls would be leaping out of windows, slashing their wrists, trying to hang themselves by jumping off of street curbs, “oh the humanity!”
So for the sake of those who are so terribly overinvested in the Cruz campaign, as Iowa approaches, I say GO CRUZ GO!!
Join me in that, will you my fellow Trump supporters?
We don’t want to see any self-inflicted harm befall our fellow FReepers, now do we?
Lol!
Well done :-)
Followed the image link to your website.
Do you make those bike kits from scratch?
They look amazing! Lots of talent on display there my FRiend :-)
It's interesting how many Democrat voters, who gave us Obama, are sizing up Trump and Sanders as their top choices.
When the ground reports come in with the real poll numbers, I would venture to say Cruz will show a hardy victory in Iowa and I would not count him out in NH.
Since you shoot off at the mouth without watching and listening, aren’t you grateful for the autonomic nervous system to keep you alive?
I pretty much suspected you had an intelligence level that would require you to go on the attack.
Don’t misunderstand me, I love Cruz. The humor concerns the Establishment’s contempt for Cruz.
Regarding Democrats, the goods news is the bad news for Hillary.
Oh Heidi, cool your jets. Your Teddy will be number two and you’ll have to move from TX to DC.
They are in the same contest and Trump has more percentage than the next 3. Should end reasonable debate right there.
