Second look at Trump?
Donald Trump reacted to criticism from Republican presidential primary challenger Cruz Wednesday, saying that he equates "New York values" to "energy" that helped the city to persevere after the September 11th attacks.
"One thing it means is energy. You know, when the World Trade Center got hit, we rebuilt that World Trade Center and we got through and very few places in this world could have gotten through what we went through. I mean, I was so proud of New York, the World Trade Center, these two massive, 110 story buildings come down, thousands of people killed. I've never seen anything like it in my life. And immediately the rebuilding started," Trump told conservative Radio host Howie Carr.
In a separate interview Wednesday on Bloomberg News' "All Due Respect," Trump further addressed the attack, saying, "When you knock New York, you've got to go through me. New York is an amazing place with amazing people." The more I think about Cruz's "New York values" attack on Trump this week, the more I think it's a silly mistake (and not just because I'm biased due to my upbringing). Here's one reason why:
You can understand why Cruz did it. When you're making a play for Iowa and the deep south in a Republican primary, you can't go wrong needling the godless sodomites of NYC. Problem is, the race won't be won or lost in Iowa and the deep south. Ironically, it's the blue states that may decide the nominee because they come later in this year's primary schedule, which means they can follow winner-take-all rules for awarding their delegates instead of awarding them proportionally. Even if Cruz wins Iowa and cleans up in the SEC states, he's likely to lead fairly narrowly over the rest of the...

OK with that point of view you have indited yourself. You are American and Americans elected Obama...twice.
The clinton donor whines
That sounds promising. Very promising. I pray for you, your state, and our nation.
New York has nothing on New Orleans when it comes to buying out politicians.
The upright man defends his home State, quite succinctly.
A man who could sneer at someone speaking about the courage and determination of a city, rising up and coming together, after a terrorist attack including self sacrifice and many individual acts of bravery in appalling conditions is a cur.
Me too!
Trump was just trying to help an underprivileged woman who didn't have enough clothes.
And, he prevented her from catching cold.
I like thoughful and generous people.
I say if the Trump cult wants a civil war let it begin here.
The New Yorkers and their apologists don’t realize what the rest of us really think of the people’s republic of New York City.
Heavy taxes? Check
Gun Control? Check
Soda Control? Check
Transgender control? Check
Cigarette control? Check
“Obama took 1,995,241 votes in New York City, to Mitt Romney’s 436,889, giving Obama 81.19% of the vote to Romney’s 17.78%.” That was slightly higher than the 79% that went to Obama in 2008.
New York values.
Trump wears big pants. He leads and all follow in baby steps. Cruz loses on this. Slamming New York values. Woo wee Cruz just stepped into a big pile of it!
LOL now Arkansas has always meant crooked politicians to me.
: )
"Trump cult"?
You realize, of course, that if Trump wasn't in the way, The Media DeathStar would have already obliterated Ted Cruz?
He'd be just another burnt greasy smear on their trail of smoked conservatives.
There's a whole new crop of young Lefty "journalists", on the hunt for Republican and conservative scalps.
If they're neutralized, conservatism has a chance.
Trump is the only one who can do it. You may find that unfortunate, but it's reality.
New Yorkers have nothing to apologize for. Just like the many other remarkable regions of our country they have lots to be proud of and some things that need fixing.
Romney..really?
Compared to Obama? Really.
Really I’m not sure that it was much of a choice. I voted for Romney but on the next Hobson’s Choice I’m staying home. I abhorred Romney and Mc Cain wasn’t any better. Tha’s the real problem someone needs to stand up and fight for a return to American values. I may not walk down every road with Trump but I think we can go quite a ways before our paths part. By then I hope the next true American conservative will be ready.
TRUMP has already answered that. He has already countless times plead, “GUILTY, AS CHARGED”, and is deft enough to explain his reasoning. He so much as dares anybody for common sense, to make it in NYC in the way he has, by being too prissy to deal with Democrats, who run the damn place.
Makes sense to me.
If the shoe were wrapped around your foot, and only IF you wanted to make it big, and maybe you wouldn’t, I’d like to see you make it without dealing with Democrats. Who around here doesn’t know that to make it in NYC, that the joint is loaded with Democrats? Anyone?
I never did understand why 9/11 families (many very wealthy) got those yuge payouts IN ADDITION to life insurance policy checks 10X bigger than most of the rest of us would ever see. These people were worth more than the rest of us, I guess.
Regarding the values, NYC values seem to be east/west coastal liberal values plus a bunch of arrogance and condescension. You go 100 miles or fewer inland and things start to change. Here in WA State you only have to go about 25 miles inland.
“Here in WA State you only have to go about 25 miles inland.”
Yay ... we are Exit 27 on the 90 ... we pass!
