Second look at Trump?
Donald Trump reacted to criticism from Republican presidential primary challenger Cruz Wednesday, saying that he equates "New York values" to "energy" that helped the city to persevere after the September 11th attacks.
"One thing it means is energy. You know, when the World Trade Center got hit, we rebuilt that World Trade Center and we got through and very few places in this world could have gotten through what we went through. I mean, I was so proud of New York, the World Trade Center, these two massive, 110 story buildings come down, thousands of people killed. I've never seen anything like it in my life. And immediately the rebuilding started," Trump told conservative Radio host Howie Carr.
In a separate interview Wednesday on Bloomberg News' "All Due Respect," Trump further addressed the attack, saying, "When you knock New York, you've got to go through me. New York is an amazing place with amazing people." The more I think about Cruz's "New York values" attack on Trump this week, the more I think it's a silly mistake (and not just because I'm biased due to my upbringing). Here's one reason why:
You can understand why Cruz did it. When you're making a play for Iowa and the deep south in a Republican primary, you can't go wrong needling the godless sodomites of NYC. Problem is, the race won't be won or lost in Iowa and the deep south. Ironically, it's the blue states that may decide the nominee because they come later in this year's primary schedule, which means they can follow winner-take-all rules for awarding their delegates instead of awarding them proportionally. Even if Cruz wins Iowa and cleans up in the SEC states, he's likely to lead fairly narrowly over the rest of the...

PING
OOOHHH, tough guy!
For all of Cruz's intelligence, he is no match for pugnacious political street brawling that Trump brings to the table.
Trump is the master of ‘Linguistic Judo’. Ted should know that by now.
Doesn’t take much to get Trump’s tough NY panties in a twist.
Trump loves Mr No Sodas, no guns Bloomberg.
Trump has been riding a cloud.
He ought to not mess it up.
Yo, where is it you come from?
NY and the East Coast don’t deserve your snide remarks. There is no cornering the market on greed & corruption; they are everywhere. Plenty of corruption to go around in California, Nevado, Colorado, Florida, Alabama, Chicago and every state in the union. So take your prejudice’s on a long walk down a short pier.
New Yorkers are some of the best people in the world bar none. If you want to see a true melting pot where every heritage has room to show their colors come to NY. If we could only get Rudy back and unload all these Democratic polls it would be heaven.
“New York values, like buying out politicians? But I guess that`s just the way it`s done on the East Coas”
Done that way all across the country.
*exit82 posted the Bloomberg video on another thread. I can not bring up this article video. Hope you got to see it, and not just read about it.
It’s PRICELESS. TRUMP ROCKS!!
I like Trump and will enthusiastically vote for him in the General. But, in the Texas primary, I’m going to vote for Cruz.
Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, I was disappointed in Trump dragging up the “birther” issue a few days before the first primary and think it is a cheap shot flagrantly aimed at changing a few votes in his favor 2-3 weeks out from these Iowa Caucuses.
As for “New York Values”, I agree with Cruz. New York is indistinguishable from California when it comes to big government, high taxes, anti-business, pro abortion, GUN CONTROL and electing Marxists/Socialists, and some times admitted communists, to high public office.
That said, Ted is usually better at choosing words than he did this time. I think he lost his cool vis a vis Trump.
I posted the video here too.
Hmmm....wonder if Cruz would be the least bit beholden to the Super PACs pumping money his way?
Not to mention that Trump is poised to win CT, NJ and NY - unthinkable for any other GOP candidate. As an aside, NYC does offer the worst America has to offer but it also offers the very best, tons of the very best. And, I’m a Bostonian pained in saying that.
New York values suck. Met too many NYers to think otherwise.

Louisiana is on the East Coast?

This story goes right along with what I’ve been saying for months.
Trump is an Alpha male. He fights. He’s confident. He wins. Even when he doesn’t he makes a good show of it. He leads. People follow him.
Cruz is a beta male. He tries to lead, but can’t even get more than two of his fellow Senators to join him on anything they weren’t already inclined to. He holds hearings that no other Republicans bother to show up to. Yes, he’s conservative, but he’s not a leader of men. He comes off more like a beta-provider who’s worried about being late for picking the kids up from preschool.
Nice. I love you too. Just don’t think to much of your powers of observation. How many million people in NY? And you have met enough to generalize about NY values. I doubt it.
