Congressional Republican leaders have confirmed they intend to hold a vote to override President Barack Obama’s veto of the bill to defund Planned Parenthood on January 26, four days after the annual March for Life in Washington, DC.
The bill, which the House of Representative passed on January 6 by a 240 to 181 vote and the Senate in December by 52 to 47, would place a one-year moratorium on Planned Parenthood’s more than $500 million per year in federal tax funding, as well as repeal many major components of Obamacare, which also helps subsidize abortions.
Obama vetoed the bill last week, in a move which March for Life president Jeanne Mancini said nevertheless served a useful purpose in making his support for abortion “loud and clear, perhaps more than ever before.†On Tuesday, Live Action News’s Rebecca Downs noted that the veto does not change the “historic†nature of the vote as the first time the issue was sent to the President’s desk.
Pro-life lawmakers are not expected to reach the 67 Senate votes and 290 House votes necessary to override Obama’s veto and make the bill law, but hold out hope that their efforts in this session will help lead to the bill being signed by a pro-life President in 2017.

Of course they will. It gives their loss an excuse. They could have defunded it.
The GOP is all show and no results. How about shutting government down? What? Too late? They funded everything Obummer wants!
Why did they fund it in the first place? Answer because Paul Ryan jammed the Omnibus funding bill through the House with no debate instead of a separate funding bill that would kept Planned Parenthood from being funded in the first place. Time to get rid of the Republican party and replace it with a conservative party. First party principle : There shall be term limits to ensure that concerned citizens govern the people and not professional politicians whose only mission in life is to get re elected.
This bill is just ONE of MANY these ‘spineless sissies’ need to over ride, or they will be over riding the unemployment lines!!!
And more to the point, will we ever reach a point where the representatives we pay to do so will actually read the bills they pass, much less debate them?
I know we all know this—but the time to do this was in the omnibus bill.
The only way this will override is if the American people deluge their Congressional offices with the demand to approve the override.
This is an election year, and the folks in DC value their jobs more than they do Planned Barrenhood.

They are counting on the American people, obtuse as they are, not understanding what the lawmakers did and did not do.
Term limits requires an impossible constitutional amendment. The American people don’t do constitutional amendments at the national level, but will at the state level, where they are usually meaningless.

It is hilarious that this article is written like there is some serious legislating taking place. These “right-to-life” organizations are as corrupt as our politicians. Oh, and please send more money.
Patriots, beware that this legislative action is likely another election year dog-and-pony show by the corrupt Washington cartel to make voting records look good to fool low-information voters into reelecting these bums.
In addition to Planned Parenthood funding, the unconstitutional Omnibus spending bill undoubtedly included many other vote-winning things that the states have never delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for.
Party line betting says it has zero chance of passing.
