Cruz: I can win some blue states in the general election
Politico ^ | 01/14/16 | Nolan D. McCaskill

Ted Cruz believes he can win some blue states in a general election, specifically Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and New Hampshire - all states the Republican nominee lost to Barack Obama in the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Cruz said Mitt Romney and John McCain, the past two Republican nominees for president, lost those states because millions of conservatives didn't vote.

"We haven't been bringing out the Reagan Democrats. I believe our campaign will do that," Cruz said in an interview with U.S. News & World Report published Thursday. "And I'll point out, what we do know doesn't work is following the Bob Dole-John McCain-Mitt Romney plan - that, we know, produces double-digit losses. So, the Washington conventional wisdom is that we need to keep moving further and further left and sounding more and more like the Democrats. And every time we do that we lose by bigger and bigger margins."

In New Hampshire, the first-in-the-nation primary state, Cruz polls fourth in a RealClearPolitics average of state polls at 10.8 percent. Donald Trump dominates the field at 30 percent, but Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich are in striking distance at 13 and 11 percent, respectively. Cruz maintains that his campaign is "underestimated" there but that his message is resonating with voters.

"Again looking at the informed voters, when we're there in front of a rally, early on, our rallies had two and three times the number of people that the Jeb Bush and Scott Walker rallies had, back when they were the expected dominant players," he said. "So I believe the message resonates well there."

"We have not put the resources into TV yet; we just went up on air, so we will be," Cruz continued. "Many of the people statewide haven't heard our message and have heard everybody else's. So I think we have a lot of upside. It's fairly remarkable, given that the rest of the field has spent $50 million, we've spent zero, that we are, in a variety of polls, essentially in a three-way tie for second."

I’d call those ‘purple’ states.
And YES, he can win them.

This such a patently ridiculous statement or prediction on it’s very face, I almost fell off my chair...rubbing my eyes.

One only needs to look at the internals of EACH and EVERY poll that has been taken of ever single state polled so far to conclude that Sen Cruz is not just wrong, but dead wrong. Don’t take my word for it....look at the internals yourself.

This is not a good look at either his political acumen or his sanity.

Does Ted have an original campaign strategy of his own, or does he just follow Big Brother Donnie around?

Trump has been nice until now, but he needs to lose this coattail riding leach

Yes, he said he was going to the Supervisor of Elections office to register as a Republican so he could vote for Trump in the primary.

The GOP will win this year, however Cruz is the weakest candidate due to his not being a natural born citizen. A lot of Americans will not vote for him vote that reason alone. He will also challenged legally as being ineligible. Every democratic SoS will deny him access to the ballet.

The anti-Cruz acrimony at this supposedly conservative web site is disturbing.

Sure he will. If Ted Cruz is beating Hilary Clinton by 7% like he is in the latest Fox polls, it means he is going to win at least some purple states and win the electoral votes. Its virtually impossible to win the popular vote by 7% and not win the electoral vote.

New York State needs to be ridiculed. New York City votes more left wing than even Moscow. New York values are not the south or fly over country values. We have a darn communist as mayor in New York City for crying out loud!

Nonsensical post anyone?
The only polls that matter in a general election are the head to heads against the Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton. Trump is currently losing to Hilary Clinton in the RCP average. Cruz is beating Hilary Clinton in the same RCP average.

This may come as a news flash for you, so I suggest you have a seat, so you don’t wind up with a case of the vapors:

National polls do not matter. We are not a direct democracy. We have a republic. This means we don’t have one, single election for all the marbles: we have 50 separate elections. One for each state, see?

This means if 1 million illegals vote for HRC on top of the # of citizens in the election and they count them, it doesn’t matter. The number of Electoral College votes for CA is fixed, no matter how many individual votes she gets.

In other words, you have it exactly backwards and wrong: The only polls that matter in a general election are the state by state polls.

And if you don’t believe me, ask Mitt Romney, who foolishly believed the same crap as you are posting here.

Trump is losing to the communist Bernie Sanders by, wait for it, a massive 13% in the latest Quinnipiac university poll at RCP.
Yup. And that is not a typo.

My sense is that Ted Cruz is, or is being turned into, a weapon that's being used against his supporters, their credibility and the Constitution.

I'm just not sure if Ted knows it or not or if this was the intention from the beginning.

From a certain point of view, obama is a tailor-made, carefully calibrated stealth weapon.

Like Biden said, "...first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy." "I mean, that's a storybook, man".

The stealthy obama weapon, a modern Trojan horse variant, was fired at the most vulnerable and poorly guarded spot on the good ship Constitution: the NBC eligibility requirement for POTUS.

The targeting accuracy was remarkable and the obama was a direct, and welcomed(!), hit.
For this achievement, Sun Tsu would not suppress his smile of approval for this graduating class of his students.

By any battle assessment, the obama weapon was/is a phenomenal success with devastating results.

It damn near blew the eligibility door completely off the Constitution, which not ironically, now looks like the USS Stark did, listing to port and taking on water through that big hole just above the waterline.

Shot after shot had been fired at that same spot with a variety of similar weapons, but the obama version was the golden BB done in half black. Irresistible!

And, here we, the people, are once again sailing into battle, but now with only a handful of dedicated standing guard over the Constitution's now perhaps hopelessly vulnerable, still open wound.

In the meantime, several new versions of the stealthy obama weapon were re-calibrated specifically targeting these few remaining dedicated defenders.

While still BVR, the entire quiver of these newly recalibrated stealth weapons was fired full volley at those few proud defenders of self-evident truth.

As it is now, only two weapons remain in the air and both are still tracking, riding the beam to target.

One of those has faltered and become somewhat erratic, but their best model has performed very well, indeed.

It has been fully visible on all screens and various sensors for a long time, but only a few have acquired a lock.

Most defenders remain in the "OFF" position and both weapons are still inbound.

National polls do not matter

Chuckle!
Of course national polls matter.
That is why there has never been a case where any candidate won by 7% (like Ted Cruz is beating Hilary Clinton in the latest Fox polls), and lost the electoral vote. Every single candidate that won the popular vote by 7 points or more, won the electoral votes too.

And if you don’t believe me, ask Mitt Romney, who foolishly believed the same crap as you are posting here.

Now why don't you show me ANY TIME AT ALL that Romney ever led Obama by 7% in the popular vote general election matchups?
Romney got clobbered in the popular vote.

The Democrat machine in Virginia is strong and the current dem Governor McAuliffe is a Clintonite. Trump would have an easier time winning VA but Ted would have a decent shot too.

This is why I wanted Ted as the VP, and Donald as the President/Frontman.

Ted has almost no game against the media.

Remember, once we get into general election mode the media is going to be 100% knives out... Can Ted handle that? He can’t tweet out cute little videos when the entire media and democrat party are smashing him day in and day out.

Also Ted can’t go mocking blue states... That “New York values” comment lost him the North East.
