Serious problems with Trump's Iowa ground game
American Thinker ^ | 1/14/2016 | Ed Straker

Posted on 01/14/2016 5:43:41 AM PST by TBBT

More evidence has surfaced that Donald Trump's Iowa ground game is not very substantial.

One volunteer leader enlisted by Donald J. Trump to turn out Iowa voters has yet to knock on a single door or to make a phone call. Another is a "9/11 truther" with a website claiming that the Sept. 11 attacks were a government conspiracy. A third caucus precinct captain ... said the campaign's goal of having them each enlist 25 supporters was unrealistic.

"There's probably not even 25 registered voters in a precinct," said the captain, Kathy Hawk. ...

"I got 12 to go to the caucus, but I don't know if they will actually vote for Donald Trump," said Rick Shaddock, a precinct captain in Fairfield and the one who maintains the Sept. 11 conspiracy site.

Remember, caucuses require a lot more pushing and handholding to get people to come out than primaries. That's why I suspect that if Ted Cruz is a little bit ahead in the polls, as he is in the latest Des Moines Register poll that came out Wednesday, it will only understate his advantage. Donald Trump hasn't set up a substantial ground game in Iowa, and what ground game he has is run by inexperienced and/or nutty people like the 9/11 conspiracy theorist.

Republicans are going to have to ask themselves the question about Trump: ‘Do we want a candidate who could be in a mental hospital in two years?’ That’d be a big problem. It’d be a very precarious one for Republicans because he’d be running and then he would break down at some point. You don’t want to be running and have that kind of thing over your head.

I’d hate to see something like that get in his way. But a lot of people are talking about it and I know that even some mental health professionals have concerns, the fact that he shows clear signs of mental instability and could break down at any point.

Here’s what I think I’d do: I’d go and seek a full psychiatric screening if I was Donald. You go see a psychiatrist. You go to a doctor to ask for what’s called a psychological screening. You go in seeking a clean bill of psychiatric health from the doctor, even if you think you’re doing just great. That’s part of the problem with mental illness, it’s hard to detect in yourself. Donald could go right in, do it quickly. It can go quickly. Clean bill of health, very good.

From the link in the article:

Mr. Shaddock said one of Mr. Trump's senior Iowa operatives, Marshall Critchfield, had told him not to bring up his conspiracy views when calling voters. "Marshall took me aside and told me, 'Rick, when you're talking to people about Donald Trump, maybe you should't mention 9/11,' "
Although he was not at the Ottumwa rally, Mr. Shaddock said he would have stood up to object when Mr. Trump referred to Muslims flying planes into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

"That hasn't been proven," he said. "I would have stood up and said, 'Listen, it was remote-controlled takeover of the autoland' " technology.

Dude, Trump is not my first choice, but this is going a bit far. The man isn’t headed for a mental hospital.

Ed Straker’s articles have been calling Trump a “liar” and other things over the past few days. I am not sure we should be relying on his apparent reporting for an idea of Trump’s ground game. He has TDS galore.

I know. I don’t think so either. That’s why he really needs to get it behind him.

As a voter trying to get information on who to vote for, which one would you rather participate in?

I just want to get the word out so it doesn’t hurt Trump if people think he is mentally ill.

I fear that you have the mental disorder of palilalia and a severe case at that. I hope you seek psychiatric help before you totally break down and your life is ruined. Please get help!

Lets just see what happens—I believe Trumps Supporters will walk over broken glass to vote—They will outnumber the Bible Thumpers that win in most cases. Just a few weeks and the truth will be known—until then expect Trump to be called (not in this order) A Nazi, A Mormon, a Liberal, a Socialist, a communist, a gangster, a horder, a child molester, a divorced man, a Tryrant, a King wantabee, etc...

Mr. Shaddock's outspokenness on these views, which the campaign has asked him to rein in, was not tested on Tuesday night as he placed calls to voters. Using an app, Ground Game 2, supplied by the Trump campaign, which also provided a list of prospects in his precinct, he placed calls to all eight names - as many as he had been given for the day by Trump headquarters.

Six times he reached voice mail messages. Another number was not in service. At the one number he reached, a woman picked up, and Mr. Shaddock asked to speak to the voter on his list, a man.

"I don't know that person," the woman said.

"I did dial the correct number, right?" Mr. Shaddock asked.

The woman hung up.

You’re right!

ALL the candidates should do exactly this!

You can never be too safe.

In Fairfield, in southeast Iowa, Mr. Shaddock, the 9/11 skeptic, said it would be difficult to find someone to speak publicly on Mr. Trump's behalf in each of the eight precincts in the area. He asked the Trump campaign for $500 to rent the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center so all precincts could caucus together, which would require just one speaker. The campaign turned him down. "Donald himself could have spent $500," he said.

I am a Cruz supporter. I also spent most of my life following Trump through the stories in the New York Post. If you believe he is acting unstable now, then he’s been unstable for the last 30 years, usually making good money and important devisions affecting thousands of people’s lives and livelihoods.

Now, HRC has been an unstable harridan who will not release her medical records. She has left a trail of dead bodies most places she goes, so I’d be all for her getting an evaluation.
