'Just fed up w objectification of women in media'
A sports writer and New York Times best-selling author named Jeff Pearlman was pushed into a quasi-apology after saying, via Twitter, Fox News female correspondents dressed as "hookers," per order of their bosses.
He posted, alongside a photo of the female crew of Fox's well-watched "Outnumbered" this text: "Serious question: do women on Fox News get extra money for dressing as hookers? Just embarrassing."
In another tweet, Pearlman wrote: "Just fed up w objectification of women in media. It's tired, old, widespread, not cool. #done."
As Mediaite found, another named Steve Krakauer, @SteveKrak, weighed in with criticism: "@jeffpearlman Calling journalists 'hookers' is precisely the objectification of women you're talking about."
And Pearlman's response: "@SteveKrak Steve, I did NOT call the women hookers. I said Fox News has its women dress like them. Which it does. Degrades women journalists."
It wasn't long before another jumped in the fray, asking "@jeffpearlman a skirt makes you a hooker? thats the equivalent of calling you a lifeguard if you wear a red bathing suit," Mediaite found.
Pearlman said his only point was to out the network for "treat[ing] women like objects," which he said via tweet was "a disgrace to legit women reporters."
He went on, in another Twitter post: "Let me re-phrase: are tons of women journalists busting asses w skill, doggedness, professionalism. Fox News CLEARLY after looks, wardrobe."
Ultimately, Pearlman retreated a bit.
He wrote: "Ok, I admit, bad Tweet, removed. I just really object to Fox News' approach. But that's not the on-air person's fault."

I agree with you about the consistent way of dressing, except Greta does not dress like that. My personal opinion is that they should dress a little more conservatively, such as a jacket over the dress, or more sleeves. My thinking is that they should be attired in a way that would allow them to be taken seriously in a business setting. Something a little closer to the male “business suit” uniform effect. But I do not think they dress like “hookers”.
I disagree. They don’t dress as hookers.
For the most part, they’re wearing pretty standard dresses for this era. They sit modestly. If anything, they tend to show too much cleavage, but they also tend to be endowed women.
I’m old fashioned, I guess. I prefer women in dresses. Should they sometimes wear fashionable longer dresses, too? Yes, it would say that dress is random for one thing, and some of those styles are very attractive, too.
Hillary in a pantsuit pretty much has shown how lame pantsuits are.
Maybe but I won’t be visiting his blog.
Indeed.
Because everyone knows we'd rather see our Fox News female broadcasters dressed like this instead:
Well, he kind of resembles one.
100% correct. OAN, OTOH...
I was summoned to Jury Duty this week. It was for a murder trial for a POS who executed three people in a drug operation.
One of the defense attorneys, a woman, 29-30 or so came into jury selection in an outfit that was just mind blowing. A black twat high body sock, with a black blazer wearing what I charitably call stripper pumps. She was reasonably attractive physically speaking (not overweight or butterface ugly), but I thought to myself, who goes to court dressed like Britney Spears? And then I realized that this woman is one of the Britney Spears tweeners from the 1998-2000 time frame.
Just a bizzaro world.
The Asst.DA also a woman, but in her 40’s, was dressed as you would expect. Proper business suit, knee length skirt, moderate heel. The suit was a high end garment, you could tell by the fabric and stitching. She looked professional, where the defense attorney just needed the fishnet stockings to finish the “call girl” look.
Except for Greta. She has her own uniform. And IMHO looks much more professional than the other “ladies” on Fox which I watch twice a year when visiting my parents.

uh, what kind of high body sock was that?
Jeff Pearlman must be a queer.
You are correct .... Greta always has on a jacket/blazer. The colors can be a little off-putting (the bright yellow & orange ones - ugh), but the rest are ok. I think she always wears a white blouse (button-down?) with the blazers. She looks very professional ..... much more so than most of the women on FOX.
But of course Sports Illustrated does not treat women as objects with their body paint issue...
I don’t think it is inappropriate-the sleeveless dresses in the dead of winter is pretty silly, though. I work for myself-in construction, with just guys-and wear jeans and boots to work. But before I changed careers, my boss-the owner of the company where I worked insisted that all women had to wear a dress or skirt and blouse, and high heels, no exceptions. And I wasn’t a hooker-I was a workers comp case manager-around here, there are dress codes-set by the management. If you don’t like it, don’t work there-obviously I much prefer the jeans and boots...
To be fair, that boss also required the guys to wear a button down shirt, slacks, dress shoes or boots and have a jacket and tie with them to put on if one of our customers was visited...
I don’t know how Gasparino does it. Gotta be sheer torture. Oh, I made a pun.
She [Kimberly] wears shoes?
