I thought Clinton was the one to introduce the affordable housing act, or whatever it was called and that it kicked in just before Bush and then took years to burst. Bush got the blame but Clinton put the program in place. This is important because when I saw this story, I right away thought Obama is simply recreating the same scenario. Put program in place, ensure it bursts while we have Republican in the White House, blame Republicans for ever that all they do is cause recessions... I'm so cynical...

I think it was Carter that got the ball rolling on the Community Reinvestment Act, but it was Bubba Clinton that put it on steroids.

Actually it was the peanut farmer who came up with the Community Reinvestment Act which forced banks to lend to under qualified borrowers especially minorities. I may be wrong but don’t think so.
