Donald Trump says Ted Cruz should leave the presidential race

WASHINGTON— Donald Trump stepped up his attack on Sen Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for president Wednesday calling for Cruz to drop out of the race.

Donald J Trump
@realDonaldTrump
"Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!"

Trump recently warned the GOP that if Cruz becomes the nominee ,the party would be risking the White House. Trump claims Democrats would hold up the election in court, litigating whether or not Cruz is considered a natural born citizen.

Trump’s views on Cruz’s eligibility have changed throughout the campaign.

The first time he was asked about Cruz’s Canadian birth in 2013, Trump, the loudest ‘birther’ questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama citizenship, wasn’t sure if Cruz was qualified. Trump was still not convinced last March, months before announcing his own bid for president. By September, Trump said he was confident Cruz had the legal standing to run.

I’m already satisfied.

I think I have made that clear in my posts.

If not, let me restate it.

I believe Ted Cruz is eligible. I believe he was born with his American citizenship passed to him by his mother. I believe that makes him an NBC.

"Cruz started the cynical jabs with his 'name on airplane' attack on Trump - Class envy stuff. "

Mischaracterization. Cruz's remark concerned the name on the plane, not the plane itself.

"Trump never followed up with his answer to the reporter about Cruz's citizenship until Cruz started to speak out. Check the timeline. Cruz figured he could take his jabs without getting hit back."

Of course not. This isn't Cruz's first campaign and he's aware that's not how it works.

"Trump is also hitting Cruz with his attachments to the donor class and with Cruz's sudden 'build the wall' campaign rhetoric."

So is that the new meme the Trump fans are circulating--"the donor class?" Interesting.

Only the super-rich elite would be able to run for office without donors. Is that what we're after now?

"Trump is the only candidate that is not controlled by the donor class."

See above.

" For all the religious reasons you may like Cruz - and rightfully so - this election needs to be about what Trump is about. And yes, it means taking a chance."

Why do you assume religion is the reason behind Cruz's support?

-- When I referred to name calling, I should have stated that I was referring to Mark Levin specifically, and not to Cruz. --

Oh, thanks. At any rate, that's part of the political process. Call it settled, and if anybody disagrees, use ridicule. It's 100% effective against that single opponent, shuts them up and manages the message.

Levin is right because of his education and experience, etc.

Setting Levin aside, my experience when I research a case (cases cite other cases), or a news story, the cases and news stories are usually wrong and misleading. Cases often don;t stand for the proposition claimed, for example, and that is SCOTUS and other courts doing the misleading. So, I figure if I really want to know, I have to study. And then I get my answer, at some point, by my own hard work.

Personally, i am not bothered by being called names. It's not even a distraction. I'm on the prowl for substance, and if my opponent in argument has none, then I move on.

This is the media attempting to make one thing out of another thing.

Trump is needing to clarify if Cruz will be tried in the court of public opinion as ineligible. If he is to choose Cruz as his running mate, which he should, he needs this crap finished ASAP. Trump is choosing his words very carefully, The headlines will always get it wrong.

Trump also may be setting Obama up. If Cruz is publicly asked this spring for all kinds of details and documents, this helps the republic. Finally we can get it out there that NO LEGAL DOCUMENT has ever shown that Obama was born in the USA. Logic proves the birth certificate he put online to be an utter forgery. They didn’t have “layers” a la photoshop in 1961. This is not debatable.

The little tiny classified ad in two Honolulu newspapers around the time of Obama’s birth was CLEARLY done when bank veep Typical White (new) Granny wanted to save face with her friends and employers. Stanley Ann was supposed to come home from her “trip” (probably to an unwed mothers home in Vancouver) with no baby. Now she was Keeping her baby?? And of a different race?! That just wasn’t ok back then! So she made the announcement as if Stanley Ann had married Obama Sr., and they lived at such and such address. They NEVER lived together nor were they a couple. And none of the Obamas or Dunhams ever lived at the address in that ad.

If Cruz has to go into honest living detail with his documentation, that will show Obama was never eligible for one second, as well as showing the incredible, really unbelievable, media bias. And I like that.

See my post. If Trump wants Cruz as veep, he wants this question cleared up. They have six months. Don’t fall for the media crap. They are in this together.

Yeah, that was the video I wanted my husband to watch. He shook his head and said, “Wow, that guy belongs nowhere near the Oval Office.”

He’s going for the jugular here.

Yep. This does look like the knock out blow here. And Cruzers making threats of taking their ball home makes me think they know it to. Cruz was counting on this issue staying under the radar and Trump won’t let it. Now with the debate tomorrow and Cruz’s stupid insult of NYers I expect Trump will wipe the debate floor with him. Game. Set. Match.

6 party switches? The man is unstable.

Maybe you can explain for us the difference between the parties? Is your test that only repubs can run, why? I certainly have been so disheartened that I have changed my party affiliation from repub to unaffiliated after 37 years as a repub.

Say, Jeb has lots of money and nowhere to go. Maybe he could pay his attorneys to bring suit so that Cruz can get a judicial determination with regard to this issue?

You made some good points but I don’t believe the GOPe members of the senate would consider him ‘part of the system.’

Cruz has fought the GOPe in the senate as no other senator has ever done. They despise him.

Obama is going to turn into a walker after his term ends.

Doomed to be forever trying to find his legacy.

I’ve read most of this thread. Would have read it all if Smitty had not started jumping up and down for his walk.

But if I discern the general tenor of the thread, it is that some of the Trump people have suddenly disappeared or become less strident and the Cruz people seem to feel pretty good about the situation.

The reason is that Trump may have actually jumped that ocean menace this time.

Should be and are are two different things. I personally think Cruz would be well fitted for the SC, but he isn’t there either.

What makes you people think they are not working together?

No one here thinks Cruz and Trump could be at this time fighting over Iowa like good competitors but have already seriously gone in together on this entire race and spoken about the possibility of a ticket together? All of this “fighting” can exist and yet they could still end up a ticket. Until now they have agreed on so much that it was obvious they’ve got something going on. Don’t just buy the media’s tableau.

I’m all in for Trump and don’t really care for Cruz or any of the rest but will vote for the nom, even if it’s(throwing up a little in my mouth)jeb.

That being said, I will be kind of pissed if they go after Cruz on this thing when they did everything they could to protect the Won.

The hypocrisy would be stunning, wouldn’t it?

A true slap in the face with a month old fish.
