Americans should resist "the siren call of the angriest voices" in how the nation treats immigrants, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said Tuesday as the GOP used its response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address to try softening the tough stance embraced by some of its leading presidential candidates.
The U.S.-born daughter of Indian immigrants, Haley said the country is facing its most dangerous security threat since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. That was a reference to the Islamic State group, which has taken credit for attacks in Paris and elsewhere and may have inspired last month's mass shooting in San Bernardino, California.
"During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices," Haley, mentioned by some as a potential vice presidential candidate this year, said in her party's formal response to Obama. "We must resist that temptation."(continued)

Uh oh. I found this about Sikh on wikipedia: Worthless talk: Bragging, lying, slander, “back-stabbing”, etc. are not permitted.
I don’t see how any politician can claim to be an adherent in that case.
Tattoo the Stars and Bars on her @ss and deport her.
I’d like someone explain to me how legal immigration helps the average US citizen trying to work and feed his family? How does immigration make his/her life better? Why is flooding the labor market good for those already here?
Oh lol! We could haul out the New Testament and say the same about church too....
Well, but again we don’t know what the Sikh equivalent of grace is. Grace is the only thing that keeps the church going. Without that, it would be an utter flub.
Could have some striking parallels to Christianity, but have yet to see the details that make Christ special (most notably: sacrificed himself for the world).
Looks to me like just another mystic religion where meditation and good works are the core of it.
Here is a woman selected to deliver the response to Obama's State of the Union speech in which Obama repeatedly called for unity. Obama's definition of unity is to abjectly submit to his statist philosophy. It is the hard face of "it takes a village."
There is a very disturbing tendency which is gaining traction around the world which is to elevate subjective feelings to the level of criminal law or at least to define speech as illegitimate. That is what hate speech is about. That is what the leftists in Britain are trying to do to Donald Trump. That is what the suppression of the Confederate flag is all about.
Governor Nikki Haley obviously does not think that free speech is worthy of protection against forces that claim they are offended by the presence of the flag. Rather than stand for free speech she abandons the colors. She herself says the flag is not the issue, the flag is the symbol, the flag is an excuse to render illegitimate one cultural point of view and establish a standard of legitimacy which embraces a contrary point of view.
Once this battle has been won by the collectivists, they will go on to the next symbol and the next and the next always shouting racism, always pretending to hurt feelings, always elevating the subjective.
That tends to be the pattern outside the Abrahamic faiths. Of course meditation could have a lot of devils or angels in the details. Just what is meditated? What is the relationship between the deity and the meditator?
I dig into such details rather fearlessly not because I am wobbly on Christianity but because I am so firm on it. Might we ever come across a situation where a people group professing some odd religion is awaiting an ultimate revelation which will turn out to be Jehovah? A Mars Hill gospel would be particularly appropriate to such a group.
You’re eloquent but is the eloquence walking away with you before the logic can take you where it wants to go?
Our Confederate flag’s history is a mixed bag, and some connotations could be laid to its being on the NC Capitol that might not exist elsewhere. Some ugly connotations in fact, like the Jim Crow era Dixiecrats saying they were going to dig in. It is a bad USAGE of the Dixie flag. I’m happy to see it associated with honest redneckdom... it picked its own “damn” cotton so to speak. Context matters and I’d be easier on Haley here than on some of the other knee jerking involving the Stars and Bars.
Trump’s first wife and current one are immigrants.
The regime through the so called mass media used the CBF to C.I.A. (cover itâs axx) by blaming Roofâs face page Confederate Battle Flag (CFB) picture as the inspiration for his murders.
There Roof also posted his âmanifestoâ. Which cited the the Zimmerman trial in where the regime through the use of âThe Bully Pulpitâ portrayed the attacker, Trevon Martin, as the âvictimâ of a racist white society which got falsely reported as ; âThe cold blooded murder of Treyvon Martin because he was blackâ.
That was done some claim including this author to defray any Constitutional investigative action contemplated by Congress.
Those claims were never challanged or corrected by the regime, MSM, or leading members of the political opposition and corrected. It resulted in attacks of completely innocent, white,âhispanicâ and asians by black youths who were led to believe justified because theyâre âvictimsâ of society. Like that of a visiting Austrailian young champion runner murdered in the US while jogging near a âhoodâ. Itâs that reference along with his manifesto which the powers that be are concealing.

I think it could have been fairly predicted, somehow.
Whose context? The Confederate flag is a positive symbol of federalism and rugged individualism for many. The problem is that some pigs are more equal than other animals. The problem is that those who cry racism are more equal than those who proclaim states rights or individuals' rights.
I utterly reject guilt by association. I reject the notion that guilt can be imputed to a candidate, a movement, a political philosophy, or a symbol such as a flag because some unsavory people exploit that symbol for their purposes. Once we go down that road there is no symbol that cannot be rendered illegitimate. I do not accept that the feelings of African-Americans about racism are inherently more to be respected than the feelings of rednecks about federalism. Once we go down that road there is no end to it.
The issue should not be feelings but rights. If African-American is on the short end of the rights issue, that should be immediately addressed as a matter of law. But that African-American does not have the right to impose his feelings on me or on the whole world. That is a world of subjectivism dominated by the collectivists and it is the road to tyranny.
It appears the “Corruption Class” is united on both sides to protect their gravy train.
And approximately 53% of the voting public, remember....
Trump will go up in the polls.
The Media, democrats, communists, Islamist, Republican elitists and are all against him.
Key point tonight, Obama belittled all our concerns about Islam coming to kill us. He can go to hell.
We, I. Found out she was GOP speaker, my first thought was oh no. Seems the GOP always gives a lousy rebuttal. Deems always give a political. Attack speech. What is wrong with the GOP. Establishment. No wonder we never win elections
LOLOL Welcome to my Great Quotes list. ROFL That’s brilliant.
Well spoken.
CA....
Well, I must confess - it is a line from a movie I watched long ago ... ‘YANKS’
The story is about a WWI American soldier, stationed in England, who falls in love with a beautiful English woman ... The only problem is that she is engaged to an English fellow ... Upon the first convenient occasion, her distraught father takes his fickle daughter aside, and tells her, in a rather curt tone, “You can’t ride two horses with one @$$!”
