Now that he has raised questions about Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) Canadian birth and American citizenship, Donald Trump has started playing Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" before campaign rallies, according to reports in The Weekly Standard and the Texas Tribune.
The introduction of the song may be an attempt by the real estate mogul to troll Cruz as many openly wonder whether he is eligible to run for president.
Cruz was born in Canada, but his mother was an American citizen, earning Cruz citizenship in the United States at birth. The Texas senator has repeatedly said that he is eligible to run for president.

Wrong on two counts. L.B.J. did not lead us into that war, Kennedy did. Count two - L.B.J. was hounded persistently by hippies and other liberals, including Walter Cronkite. Hounded out of office, refusing to run again.

Perhaps Trump is not as aware of the lyrics and intent of the song and maybe correctly assumes that none of his fans are either.

In fact, the backlash against the war was so bad, that in 1968, he went before the nation and told us that he would not run for re-election, and would not accept his party's nomination for a second term.
If Kennedy had lived, and had pursued the same tragic course, he would have been vilified by the people, as well. Americans of all stripes hated that war.
Trump did not have to say anything.
He started to use the song at the same time he doubled down on questioning Cruz’ citizenship.
How obvious could it be.
