Sununu: Trump is 'Phony', No Conservative
Newsmax ^ | 1/11/2016 | Bill Hoffman

Whom Donald Trump has insinuated is unintelligent — fired back on Monday, calling the billionaire developer and Republican presidential front-runner a "lefty liberal" who's "thin-skinned" and "all mouth."

In an explosive interview with Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg, the former New Hampshire governor who also served as chief of staff to President George H.W. Bush, lashed out at Trump's nose-thumbing barb which was reported by the Wall Street Journal. "Can you believe this guy? He was fired like a dog and he doesn't even realize it," Trump said of Sununu. "That's funny coming from a guy who's got four major billion-dollar bankruptcies," Sununu retorted referring to financial problems several of Trump's companies had years ago.

Sununu added, "he has no substance, he has no plan, he's all mouth, he's thin-skinned. Trump likes to brag that he can't be bought because he's so rich. "[Russian President Vladimir] Putin proved [Trump is] the cheapest guy in politics today with 10 cents worth of flattery. Putin had him sucked up all the way. This is a guy that you can't have as commander in chief." Sununu also dismissed the hay Trump is making over whether his chief rival Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is eligible to be president since he was born in Canada. "Trump is out trying to knock anybody who's nipping at his tails.

"All his life he's been a lefty liberal, he supports Obamacare, he's all for eminent domain, he has told us he's very pro-life even on immigration. This guy has been a lifelong liberal on immigration and now he's a conservative all of a sudden?

Trump in 1999: 'I am Very Pro-Choice'

And just a couple of years later, he stated unequivocally he has changed and is Pro-life. You have to go back over 15 years just to find weak evidence to support your outright misrepresentation of Trump. You are not what I would call a very honest person.

Sununu is no conservative, so how would he know?

The Cheap Labor Express is desperate to stop us from electing anyone who would stop them.

Cruz = Elmer Gantry

So I guess Trump's so called faith is now fair game? Do you really want to go there?

Nor is Trump. But for a few campaign dollars, I'll bet I can get Cruz to say he is.

Trump is a conservative, in fact he is by far the most conservative candidate we have had since Reagan, maybe even before.

Only if you totally redefine Conservatism.

It's been quite a long time since we had a pragmatic populist reformer run for office under the Republican umbrella. Generally they run as Perot did as a independent.

The last one that was elected IMO was Teddy Roosevelt. His legacy is not good as he led the republican party into it's current progressive state of mind. In other words he was the father of the GOPe.

2016 will be in all likelihood, my last remaining presidential vote, and I for one am not going to vote for a NYC typical populist lib from Queens.

Oh yeah, I remember that guy:

As White House Chief of Staff, Sununu reportedly took personal trips, for skiing and other purposes, and classified them as official, for purposes such as conservation or promoting the Thousand Points of Light.[17] The Washington Post wrote that Sununu’s jets “took him to fat-cat Republican fund-raisers, ski lodges, golf resorts and even his dentist in Boston.”[17] Sununu had paid the government only $892 for his more than $615,000 worth of military jet travel.[18] Sununu said that his use of the jets was necessary because he had to be near a telephone at all times for reasons of national security.[19] Sununu became the subject of much late-night television humor over the incident.[17] Sununu worsened the situation shortly afterwards when, after leaking rumors of financial difficulties in his family, he traveled to a rare stamp auction at Christie’s auction house in New York City from Washington in a government limousine, spending $5,000 on rare stamps.[20] Sununu then sent the car and driver back to Washington unoccupied while he returned on a corporate jet.[20] In the course of one week, 45 newspapers ran editorials on Sununu, nearly all of them critical of his actions.[21] Sununu resigned his White House post on December 4, 1991.

Sununu repaid over $47,000 to the government for the flights on the orders of White House counsel C. Boyden Gray, with the help of the Republican Party.[22] However, the reimbursements were at commercial rates, which are about one-tenth the cost of the actual flights; one ski trip to Vail, Colorado alone had cost taxpayers $86,330.[23]

And who better to judge than RINO who told Bush that Souter ‘would uphold conservative values” on the Supreme Court.

And don’t think that Sununu’s shenanigans ultimately didn’t cost Bush in 92, and gave us Clinton.

You might want to take it up with America's founders and the SCOTUS, Trump had nothing to do with writing the Constitution or the final say on interpreting the laws. If you are suggesting that Trump should compete with his hands tied behind his back out of principal, then I question why you want an election at all. You already have obumber and he has tied practically all American's hands out of his principals.

Only if you totally redefine Conservatism.

You really believe you are the keeper of Conservatism? Because I don't and you do not speak for me. I know a conservative when I see one, and that is Trump. I also know when I see a traitor who would sell out is country for a few campaign dollars, that is Cruz(TPA).
