It's been quite a long time since we had a pragmatic populist reformer run for office under the Republican umbrella. Generally they run as Perot did as a independent.
The last one that was elected IMO was Teddy Roosevelt. His legacy is not good as he led the republican party into it's current progressive state of mind. In other words he was the father of the GOPe.
2016 will be in all likelihood, my last remaining presidential vote, and I for one am not going to vote for a NYC typical populist lib from Queens.
