GOP Chair Reince Priebus Refuses to say Ted Cruz is a Natural Born Citizen
Red State ^ | January 11, 2016 | Leon H. Wolf

Holy cow. While I’m not as hard on Reince Priebus as a lot of other folks are inclined to be, this is a major, major unforced error on his part. Time Magazine online had an interview with Priebus yesterday and completely buried the lede, which was that Priebus refused to unequivocally declare that one of the Party’s leading candidates was eligible to run for President:

A topic in the news today: Ted Cruz was born in Canada. Is he constitutionally eligible to be President?

Listen, I don’t get involved. I’m not going to get in the middle of all these candidate issues. It’s a bad place for me to be. I’ll let all these folks argue about this stuff, and I’m going to stay out of it.

Thank you for saying that. I agree. Watering down the constitutional requirements for eligibility is a very bad idea, we have already experienced the Obama disaster, why do we want to ever set ourselves up for another? It is time to re-confirm constitutional eligibility. No one, ever again, occupies the White House who does not meet those requirements — born on American soil, 2 citizen parents, age 35, 14 years in this country. And we need legislation requiring that each candidate most provide documentation that proves he/she meets those requirements. I also think that all presidential candidates should be required to obtain security clearances (which, had that been a requirement, 20 years ago, would have spared us the Clinton presidency, and there would be no Hillary now.)

Best way to get at them is to elect Ted Cruz.

It’s a pretty simple calculation and effect.

Cruz does not need watered down requirements for eligibility. He has it.

Get over it.

They are really worried about Cruz enough to try and take him out on a worn out Obama argument. If Big Ear Buckwheat is legal then Cruz is legal. If not everything Obama has signed is null and void.

however if this keeps up we will have noone but ourselves to blame when we get a jihadist in the WH. The founders created this firewall for a reason

Even if a jihadist ran, he would still have to be elected. It is no different than if a NBC jihadist were to run. The ultimate protection against electing a crazy is the electorate.

It doesn’t matter how many times Cruz supporters say it’s settled, open and shut, etc., it’s not settled, and the Dems would use it if Cruz were nominated. Why ask Priebus anyway? He’s isn’t an expert, and experts disagree. Get used to it, and quit blaming people who refuse to pretend it is settled.

What I call the ‘No matter what” crowd, and interchangeably “Lesser evils” are the people who go on and on repeating those words every election without ever realizing that words have meanings and actions have consequences.

In my political lifetime, (I’m 50) I have heard/seen it every election after Reagan. And at an increasing rate. And every election the GOP has gone further to the left.

I am completely at a loss for how people that can scream those catch phrases one day and come right back the day after any number of GOP cave ins of magnitude bitching to high heaven about how awful the gop is when they put them there. And THEN, sometimes in the very same day, defend those votes and again call for ‘GOP NO MATTER WHAT”.

These have to be, hands down, the stupidest people God ever put on the earth. They don’t rise to the intelligence and common sense of a liberal. Any 3 year old knows if they ask for ice cream they aren’t going to get Broccoli. But somehow, these keepers of the secret wisdom think that their votes have absolutely nothing to do with the state of conservatism, the state of the GOP or the state of America today.

Ask one. They’ll be happy to tell you. These are people that crawled across cut class, metaphorically speaking to vote Romney and call Ted Cruz evil. I don’t know which applies more. Insane or liberal. Likely both. Because there is a logical disconnect there you could fly Jupiter through.

I will admit I have taken better pictures. In my defense that one was taken after listening to people tell me that Ted Cruz is evil and Meg Kelly is conservative. So you must understand I wasn’t at my best for the shot with my mind reeling from Death Star sized levels of TeH StUpIdZ.

“Of course the GOPe will not say.
Cruz is not one of their boys.”

You are spot on. Cruz isn’t GOPe, so the elites won’t defend him. Funny that they are silent on Rubio’s birth status, isn’t it?

Of course, we know why they aren’t going after Rubio..

I start this by saying I don’t care that Trump is bringing this up. Or the prince of GOPe is acting like an idiot. It is something that Cruz will have to deal with sooner or later. Trump wants to win. If Cruz wants to win he needs to combat this whether anyone thinks it is fair or not.

However, this is a stupid argument conservatives are fighting over. The Constitution has been bent, broken, stretched, twisted in knots, and abused on countless issues. Take one guess on who successfully defended it?

Now all of sudden we get our panties in a bunch because there is a slim possibility that Cruz is not a Natural Born Citizen? <= Whatever that means.

Cruz is more American than any Democrat that ran for office in the last 100 years. He is more American than anyone that depended on the government to feed and house them. He is more American than millions of Americans that stand on the sidelines and bi%!t, moan and complain. More American than those who don’t accomplish anything worth a spit for the country.

He argued and won nine conservative cases before the supreme court. All of these made a difference, State Rights, Death Penalty, Redistricting, etc... It is not like he is not a full blown citizen. He deserves the right to be President more than me and the vast majority of Americans. Anyone that says different is not being honest.

The bottom line: At this point, who the hell authoritatively knows? The only ones who can devine the meaning of words in the Consitution are Federal Court justices. What someone “thinks” is just another pebble being thrown into the ocean.

Probably wouldn't hesitate to say Obama is a Natural Born Citizen...

He did.

What is needed is for Cruz to go to court quickly and get the final word.

From a corrupted lib court? You got to be kidding...!
