'AN ORGANIST has paid a moving tribute to David Bowie by playing one of the singerâs greatest hits on the organ at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
Gordon Wilson posted a two-and-a-half minute clip on his Facebook page of the musician performing a beautiful rendition of Life on Mars at the Glasgow museum.
Facebook users praised the touching tribute to Bowie, who passed away this morning after his 18-month battle with cancer.'

Sorry, but I never had any interest in this man who did his best to act and look like a woman. I was never impressed with his homo-erotic looks.
I have a feeling he went out deliberately, I was just listening to his album and there’s just too many coincidences. Like one song he’s singing about Monday being gone, and singing on another how he is in heaven now and this is right after the album is released. I read besides liver cancer he also went through 6 heart attacks in the past year, so I don’t know how this guy was holding on in the first place, they must have had him on the machines then pulled the plug when he gave the signal.
I grew up listening to Bowie.
One of the things that I thought was interesting about him was that, unlike many other musicians who had a destinctive sound and stuck to that one thing, Bowie really changed his music to change with the times.
As a result he had many, many incarnations and different sounds.
Always sad to see anyone lose the fight to cancer. Rest in peace, David.
I don’t think it was a case of going out deliberately, but timing the release to when he knew the end was near. The album was recorded early in 2015. It doesn’t take that long to put it together, so it was probably ready to go out as early as six months ago.
What a wonderful tribute to Bowie. Bravo organist, bravo.
I loved a great musician and entertainer, his androgyny was part of the show, the artifice.
That was one of his greatest hits? Which one?
Maybe if it had a beat I would have recognized it
Life on Mars.
man who fell to earth was a cool movie tho and i don’t think i remember any of his tunes. Wish the organ was playing something like our god our help in ages past below is the version from Virgil Fox’s last concert on the aolian skinner at riverside. soloist and church singing the hymn

The magnifacent solo voice heard in the hymn is that of Hazel Gravel who was Virgils great friend through lifes trials. I loved her too. She like he were gifts to mankind

Obviously David made it known he did not want anyone that knew, to spill the beans on his condition. Pretty amazing in this day and age of social media that the word didn’t get out.
I lasted about 3 seconds.
There goes the peace part of R.I.P.
Agreed - that’s what made him so brilliant, in my opinion.
He was doing things nobody was doing..incorporating different sounds, styles etc..
He forever changed the music world & so many musicians today name Bowie as a major influence. I’ve been listening to Pandora all day, Bowie station..so many good songs & all unique. Old stuff was the best.
RIP Bowie
I was in a store a few days ago and amid the current pop drivel came “Sound & Vision.” Maybe an omen, maybe not, but it made me smile.
What’s the purpose of expressing your non-interest on a thread about an entertainer you’re not interested in?
A musician whose body of work still sounds great after 50 years - and that is what you come up with - if homo-erotic looks are what you look for in people maybe you should seek help.
Bowie was married to the same woman for nearly 24 years [up until his death], and prior to her, married for ten years to a different woman. I think his “looks” were just part of the act.
In the end he turned out to be about as “normal” as any celebrity. Quiet family man.
No one could have seen that coming in the early 70s.
