Folks are furious at actor Sean Penn and Mexican-American actress Kate del Castillo because they got chummy with El Chapo, the notorious drug kingpin rearrested last Friday. Why exactly is that? Penn was not "acting" as a journalist, he was one when he and the soap star bravely entered the jungle and risked physical and financial harm to pursue the huge exclusive interview with the fugitive who was the most wanted man in the world.
I would have done it. And I would have kept my mouth shut if I promised the source that I would keep my mouth shut about the vital logistic details. There was no immediate crime to be prevented, no urgency other than the embarrassment being suffered by the corrupt and incompetent Mexican government.
Were they brave? Yes.

Jerry Rivers has always been a meathead ... even more since they liposuctioned a bunch of fat out of his butt and planted it in his face ... on live tee-vee!
Finally! A way to keep Whorealdo's mouth shut.
Apparently the same didn't go for the women he slept with and then wrote about in his horrid biography, Exposing Myself.
Sure you would have, IDIOT! Just like you did in Iraq.
Except maybe aiding and abetting a fugitive from justice.

What does this mean? Who gives a sh*t about some media interview meant to give this mass murdering criminal a platform.
These media people assign a lot of importance to themselves.
Exactly. Or maybe taking it one step Sean should have lead authorities to El Chapo. Anything short of this is aiding and abetting.
Birds of a feather flock together.
I wonder how much the contract on Sean Penn is worth?
Most likely wishing he still had a gun in the house.
Mexico’s government was aware of the interview and was closely monitoring Penn’s movements, as he makes clear in the article. So the precise timeline and series of events is still too murky to be opining like this but it doesn’t sound as simple as Sean turning around and informing on his subject.
Either way, Penn is really a Dead Man Walking.
geraldo comes up with some of the most outlandish excuses I’ve ever heard.. and he talks/shouts loud when someone tries to tell him some sense. He thinks he’s the only one who has a right to an opinion and he’s the only one who knows anything.. thus, he talks over anyone else.
Well then....where should the line be?
Me angry at Sean Penn? No, I’m not. But I suspect I know someone who is. Someone, who is really pissed off. El Chapo! Me thinks I would rather have Barry Obama’s Just-us Department mad at me than El Chapo’s boys & girls.
Dead man walking?
So if Rivera had been given a chance to interview the 9/11 hijackers on September 9th would he have done it and kept his mouth shut?
{”Rivers has always been a meathead ... even more since they liposuctioned a bunch of fat out of his butt and planted it in his face “}
It might be more accurate to call him a Butt Head.
From what the Mexican Atty. General has indicated, the government was clued in by contacts between Guzman’s attorney and the army of Hollywood actors and producers interested in developing a movie. Sean must have thought that since he was invited to in that he would automatically be protected. He seems to have put an awful lot of other people at risk however (potentially including himself).
I can agree with Jerry if he feels that the quality of his own reporting can be matched by an actor pretending to be a journalist.
Jerry Rivers=Sean Penn
Boy, looking at Sean Penn's duggie mug is beginning to tell on him!
Through he was always butt ugly but it's hit a hew low!
