....Obama appeared in the CNN-produced "Guns in America," an invitation-only "town hall".... Obama repeatedly mischaracterized...
.... In response to a question from rape survivor Kimberly Corban regarding defensive gun use, [Hussein] stated, "...what is more often the case is that [victims with guns] may not have been able to protect themselves, but they end up being the victim of the weapon that they purchased themselves."
Here [Hussein] is likely alluding to the widely-debunked work of Arthur L. Kellermann that popularized the notion amongst gun control supporters that a firearm in the home makes the home less safe. The methodology of the studies purporting that guns make a home less safe has been soundly refuted by Florida State University Criminologist Gary Kleck and others, and such studies routinely discount the actual number of defensive gun uses. Kleck called the popularized statistic from Kellerman's work, "the most nonsensical statistic in the gun control debate." In truth, guns are used for self-defense upwards of 2.5 million times per year.

The NRA-ILA is the lobbying political arm of the NRA, so contributions to NRA-ILA are used to influence lawmakers to defend the Constitution.
I’m sure Michelle is proud that he has inspired the legal purchase of over 100,000,000 guns.
I too read the NRA-ILA's E-mails, a good friend.
Darn ... not expected! I thought he would give the facts. (Why does anybody watch this “president”. I still am looking for a voice recognition unit that would automatically MUTE him so I wouldn’t have to keep pushing the button. Great idea for crowdfunding ... hmmm. Maybe a setting on it to change to “How it Works” when Fox starts talking about the latest polls?
I’ve dealt with statistics and the raw data behind them for insurance companies for 50+ years.
The fact is that nobody has a clue how many homes have guns.
Precisely because people are afraid to advertise it.
Nobody has a clue how many people have been involved in an incident where a gun was used defensively to scare away the bad guy.
Again, that is because people are afraid to advertise it. We only know about the incidents where a shot actually hit someone.
Nobody has a clue how many times a gun is used defensively in the home; nor in a business; nor on the street/in public.
How could these statistics possibly be collected accurately?
My life has been saved twice by an illegal Mexican immigrant practicing concealed carry. How can events like that possibly get into the statistics.
Let me compare it to other statistic collection efforts. For insurance companies (and my own curiosity) I’ve gone into tens of thousands of homes in Illinois. I’ve noticed the cigarette burns in the furniture and in the carpet. I’ve noticed the cigarette burns in the car upholstery. Those events correlate directly to fires and insurance claims due to fire. The same with observing beer cans or the smell of alcohol beverages in a car. They correlate closely to car crashes due to alcohol.
But how can that correlation possibly be collected for guns?
And hundreds of govt sanctioned illegal straw purchases that walked to Mexico. All in an attempt to create a narrative to ban Americans from owning so called ‘assault weapons’. That op was brought to you by the corrupt and inept FBI and ATF. This doesn’t include guns run to Honduras, Syria and almost certainly other countries yet undisclosed. It seems for all the huffing and puffing this admin has done about ‘bad’ guns they sure are heavily involved with gun running.
