Cruz dismisses Trump’s “police state” plan on deportations
Washington Times ^ | Sunday, January 10, 2016 | Tom Howell Jr.

...

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said Sunday he will win the presidency by “painting in bold colors, not pale pastels,” and that his passion for repealing Obamacare, establishing a flat tax and enforcing immigration law will be a contrast to the “mushy middle” that doomed GOP nominees in 1996, 2000 and 2012.

“What they did didn’t work,” Mr. Cruz told CNN’s State of the Union.

Mr. Cruz, Texas Republican, is leading in Iowa ahead of the Feb. 1 caucuses, even edging businessman Donald Trump by several points in recent polls despite the mogul’s big leads elsewhere and nationally.

The Texan said his appeal is based on his loyalty to conservative principles and the rule of law. He said voters are fed up with GOP leaders who have funded the Democratic agenda through recent spending bills and that Democrats have allowed President Obama to circumvent the law through executive action.

He said he would work with Congress to achieve his legislative agenda, including repeal of Obamacare. That means he can’t literally repeal the overhaul on “day one,” though he is making it his top priority.

“I intend to follow the law,” Mr. Cruz said.

He said the law is also clear on illegal immigration — it is illegal — and that he would deport unlawful residents through regular law enforcement channels and e-verify, a system that allows businesses to determine if their employers are eligible to work in the U.S.

He said his plan does not include Mr. Trump’s call to go “door to door” to root out illegal immigrants for deportation.

“We don’t live in a police state,” he said.

They do ? The surveys I have seen show a small minority want raids conducted that would separate families or deport people that have been here a long time and integrated into society.

Both men have their qualities and weakness. Who has the best quality and the least weakness?
May the best man for the JOB needing to be done win this race.
GO TRUMP/CRUZ
We need you two to bid adieu to the corruption damaging our country like rust on a gun barrel.

Immigration laws are already in effect, just ignored. The President has the authority and the responsibility under his oath to see those laws enforced.

No need to seperate families, deport them all. What responsible parent would put their child in this situation in the first place, and having done so would leave their child behind?

What Cruz will not do is unconstitutionally create new buearocracies to conduct massive immigration raids

It appears you don't know anymore about the constitution then Cruz does. ICE already exists and ICE conducts raids on business and homes every day. You Cruzers are flailing around looking for anything to grasp onto. Do you not see what fools you are making of yourselves?

So many here claim to be strict Constitutional followers. With all the Trump followers, I'm starting to disbelieve that.

Here is a man who wants to enforce the "rule of law". Have we all not been crying for that for years? Yet, The Duck wants to establish a police state with his immigration "door to door" rhetoric. Trump is an idiot and there will never be "door to door" arrests. Why you ask? What bureaucracy will know which doors to raid when so many Hispanics are citizens or legal residents?

As an employer of 3 companies, I had to fill out the Fedgov form W-9 for verification of legal employment. It used to scare off illegals until Bush and Obama relaxed the rules and reduced the raids on suspect companies. Cruz is correct about re-enforcing that law. However, since false ID's are now a major industry, I'm not sure how to over-come that without a national ID card which I'm against. Everything can be falsified now. Solution???

Gee, where have I heard that bleeding heart plea before? Oh ya, it was obumber and pelose. Is there any part of you "principals" that you will not sell out for Cruz?

E-verify has proven to be a joke.
__________

We use E-Verify in Utah but it is only required if you have 50 employees or more so...the contractors split their workers into more than one company. E-verify rules must be tightened...no doubt.

How does Cruz plan to deport the few million illegals who are here that WE DON'T EVEN KNOW ARE HERE?

He has NO plan for that. Trump DOES. 'Stings' are a MUST!

On This one I disagree with Senator Cruz. We already live in s police state.

Think about the abuses of TSA, no- knock raids, property seizures, “swatting”, and over zealous locals gunning down innocents (that poor man at Costco Las Vegas, for example).

Trump said he would forcibly deport illegals and let the
“good ones” come back fast legally. Cruz says he will use the law to deport them and NEVER let them come back. That has been the Cruz plan from day one. He has not changed.

Trump cannot grab them out of their homes, put them on busses and take them out. Every single one would have to go to court to be deported and that would take years. Cruz, using E-Verify, would result in them being fired and they would have no job, so would start leaving. They will not be allowed back. The ones here now who are criminals would be sent back immediately and not allowed back.

"Ted wants illegals to stay."

Have you been to his site? I have and he DOESN'T want illegals to stay. However, he is totatly against Trumps SS Storm Trooper house to house search for illegals. Dump Trump.

I guess Cruz is a moderate. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Dole was. McCain was. RINOmney was.

I forgot to mention check points , which have roundly been determined to be unconstitutional but they do them anyway. And citizens being assaulted for photographing police actions.

Trump wants to deport all illegals, Cruz whats to legalize them and let them continue surviving on government freebies. That is just the fact. Cruz is owned by the cheap labor express. Why do you think the GOPe groups like CFG and GS are paying his way in this campaign?

Most Navy men are pretty smart.
The position Cruz is taking is the same we have already have.
It would take a 1000 years to deport the millions already here.

Cruz sounds like a democrat. And so do you.

Thanks for your concern Ted. We already know what works. AZ SB1070 on a national level, and we have a candidate that has both the will to enforce it, and the means to be elected.
