For modern political Zionism, the root of the âJewish problemâ was the Jewsâ minority status in exile.
Theodor Herzl (1860-1904), the movementâs founding prophet, envisaged that the creation of a Jewish state would result in the negation of the galut (exile). No Jew would find it necessary to live under alien rule; Jews would gradually withdraw to their homeland; anti-Semitism would wither, and those Jews who opted to stay put would be absorbed by their societies.
Herzl granted that there would be a smattering of Jews who would continue to live as Jews outside the Jewish state.
In contrast, cultural Zionist theoreticians, foremost Ahad Haâam (1856-1927), pictured the Jewish state as providing a spiritual center for Jewish civilization that did not necessitate the negation of the Diaspora.
In 1950, once the State of Israel was in existence, its first premier David Ben- Gurion traded political Zionismâs axiomatic demand for the elimination of the galut in exchange for backing from the American Jewish establishment. And, in a 1997 newspaper interview, the renowned historian, rabbi and communal leader Arthur Hertzberg would declare that the Diaspora was âeternal.â

Missing from the conversation (at least in this article) are the prophetic scriptures. They indicate that God is returning the Jews to their homeland (yes, maybe not all of them but we can’t say how it will go for those not in Israel in the future - America could very easily become like France if our leftward march continues) for the Time of Jacob’s Trouble yet future. During that time, a time unlike any other in human history, 2/3 of the population of Israel will be killed after Israel is deceived by antichrist and enters into a treaty with him. If it will be bad for them in Israel, it will be bad for them where ever they are I would imagine. I pray for our Jewish friends that their eyes may yet be opened.
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord’”
Matt. 23:37-39
Why does everyone refer to the Jews specifically as being disseminated throughout the world? Those of the tribe of Judah have never left the area around the nation of Israel. By the way, Israel was a nation the Jews never lived within. They lived in Judah, the other tribes lived in Israel. The time of Jacobs trouble refers more specifically to the lost tribes, not to Judah except in that they also were children of Jacob. There are close to 10 times as many offspring of Jacob that are mixed among the nations than Jews, but they act like they are the only ones.
‘Jews’ is an unofficial name, unless it specifically refers to the tribe of Judah. The informal ‘Jews’ has been used generically since Biblical times. The actual Jewish legal term is ‘Children of Israel’.
Because after the Bar-Kokhba revolt of 132 to 136 AD, Israelites/Jews were tossed out -- in revenge for the reportedly 240,000 Greeks massacred in Cyprus by Judeans during the Kitos war. The tribe of Judah were tossed out -- and remember that the northern tribes, many came back after Assyrian exile and assimilated with the Judeans (the Benjaminites and Simeonites had done so earlier). So, the Jews disseminated throughout the world. Even earlier, some had gone to Egypt, to East Africa, Yemen, Kerala etc.
2. By the way, Israel was a nation the Jews never lived within.
Not really -- the nation was of Israel, before Saul and even after the nation split under two kings, they were of the same "nation" just having two different kings -- the concept of a nation/naród/ethnicity differs from the political split, hence we see the Kurdish nation under 5 separate states etc.
3. They lived in Judah, the other tribes lived in Israel.
You confuse nation with political borders. Israel was both the northern lands and the southern lands -- in fact the northern lands at times were called the 'land of Omri' -- remember that the concept of a nation-state is only about 200 years old. A case in point is that during the time of Peter the Great, there were calls to rename Russia as Petrovia. Kings or warlords defined a country for a long, long time
4.There are close to 10 times as many offspring of Jacob that are mixed among the nations than Jews, but they act like they are the only ones. - well, there are no "lost tribes" -- the northern tribes assimilated with the southern and also with what are now the peoples of Iraq, Iran and Armenia
