When the news broke about the attempted assassination of a Philadelphia police officer yesterday, Ed covered the story and noted the gun control aspect of it. Philadelphia’s brand new mayor, Jim Kenney, was quick out of the gate to declare that this was a problem because of all the guns out on the streets. You’ll notice that he hasn’t had much more to say on that subject since it turned out that the gun in question had been stolen from a cop’s home and probably traded around among gang members like a baseball card.
Perhaps in an effort to put that embarrassing little incident behind him, the Mayor later came out with a trick worthy of an acrobat, sticking his other foot in his mouth while attempting to explain what had happened. One of the few things everyone could agree on shortly after the shooting was that the Jihadist who nearly killed the officer told the police that he had done it “in the name of Islam” and that he had pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Mayor Kenney, however, was clearly unwilling to take the would-be assassin at his word and decided to insist that Islam had nothing to do with it. (Daily Caller)
The second part is that in no way, in no way, shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you have see on that screen. That is abhorrent. Itâs terrible and it does not represent the religion in any way, shape or form or any of its teachings. And this is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers, has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith. That is abhorrent.
It’s true that there are already stories circulating that the shooter had mental problems and his own mother claimed he’d been hearing voices. So what? You’ve got to be pretty crazy to want to join ISIS in the first place, assuming that “crazy” includes murderous, homicidal monsters. That still does nothing to change the fact that something caught his attention and appealed to him. In this case, it was the call to the faithful to take up arms against the west and decent society. Striking at the police is significant because the would be killer was attempting to terrorize our nation by destroying our law enforcement capabilities.
For the Mayor to immediately pronounce that this has “nothing to do” with Muslims or any related subject is the usual, tone deaf political correctness we’ve come to expect from the hopelessly liberal. It’s not just an abject denial of reality, but yet another symptom of a society which is quickly losing the ability to defend itself and hang on to its identity. It’s suicidal behavior in a social sense and this is clearly what we should continue to expect in too many of our larger cities.
This is a good time to point out that on November 3rd of last year, the city’s residents had a choice between electing yet another Democrat (Kenney), continuing a more than six decade long tradition, or giving a chance to business owner Melissa Murray Bailey, the Republican. Kenney received more than 85% of the vote. There’s more than a little irony in the fact that they were electing somebody to replace a guy named “Nutter.” Good job, Philly. You just keep on doing what you’re doing since things are going so fabulously well.
Another terrorism denier.
But seriously isn’t it a violation of the separation of church and state for a public official to take a position on a religious matter?
You can’t believe a damn thing those Muzzies say, right mayor?
You raise an interesting point and one that I’ve been watching for - the official reaction of the cops, the cop union, or the chief of police. Has there been one yet? If I were any of them I would be incensed.
I thought he did blame lack of gun control. He's suggesting that the police need to be disarmed?
My daughter is a barefoot reincarnated hippie from the 1960s -- with an upper income job -- and Philly is too moonbat left even for her. She lives on the other side of the street from the Philadelphia city line.
Politicians spend more time defending Islam than their own people who are murdered by the cult.
See who’s side their on yet?
More like the mayor is an islamist facilitator too.
Is the mayor promoting Philly as a future sanctuary city for muzzies?
Cop Shooter's 2011 pilgrimage to Mecca had nothing to do with Islam?!!!
"Archer travelled to Saudi Arabia for a pilgrimage to Mecca in 2011, and went to Egypt for several months in 2012, FBI spokesman Eric Ruona told the Guardian on Saturday." - theguardian.com
The mayor is obviously a follower of Alinsky: say a lie and say it often and it’s finally accepted as the truth.
...just another one to add to the list.
In related news, the DNC and all Democrats, plus the MSM have announced that Mohamed (yep, that one, the Original) and ALL his pronouncements (Quran, Hadiths, etc) have nothing to do with Islam, the “Religion of Peace”.... unless they are about “sweetness & light”.
This ‘Mayor’ meeds to take up with the female Mayor of Cologne, Germany.
She says that the many women who were RAPED by hundreds of roving Muslim men of New Year’s Eve are responsible for their own attacks.
IF this Mayor’ in Philly refuses to believe the confession his own officers & staff have reported to him, then what possible confidence can that police department have in their Mayor????
How publically stupid can USA politicians possible be???
I expect Trump to dry up all FED funds to ‘Sanctuary Cities & Counties’ the day after he is placed in office. BTW—I am pretty sure Trump will us a real BIBLE for his oath of office!!!
Never mind Mayor. For his own safety and that of others he shouldn't be out in public without a minder.
If a armed man ran into a Gay Bar and screamed he hated gays and started shooting people - - would the left ‘wonder’ about his possible motive?
Yes. Post 35 is the image that does illustrate the dem position on every political issue, especially on the issue of the relationship of islam to islamic crimes against humanity.
Have you ever noticed that the biggest apologists for Islam are not Muslims, but they are self-appointed authorities of the “religion”, explaining to the ignorant masses what it is or isn’t, and avoiding references to the Koran.
I abhor the practice of public officials coming out after every disaster and telling us what we should think of it. Sit down and stfu Mayor Dumbass...nobody needs your crap.
Jeanin Pirro made several good comments about him on her show yesterday.
