Donald Trump intensified his criticism of Ted Cruz at two Iowa campaign rallies on Saturday, urging voters to reject the Texas senator by saying his Canadian birth raises serious questions about his eligibility to become president.
"He was born in Canada. I guess his parents voted in Canada," Trump said at an afternoon rally in Clear Lake. "So if you were born in Canada, immediately it's a little bit of a problem."
Trump added: "You cannot put somebody there that's gonna go in ... he's going to be immediately sued."
Earlier Saturday, Trump said at a rally in Ottumwa that Cruz "has to straighten out his problems," a veiled reference to the so-called "birther" issue. But he declined to elaborate further, saying, "We'll discuss that later."
Cruz, however, is a naturally-born U.S. citizen, and most legal experts agree that he is qualified to be commander-in-chief.
But recently, he has had to aggressively push back on questions pushed from Trump about his eligibility for the presidency. He renounced his dual Canadian citizenship in 2014, and on Friday, Cruz's campaign shared with the conservative website Breitbart a copy of his mother's birth certificate showing her born in the United States.
Actually, you’re correct on that point— which is why Cruz still doesn’t attack trump.
So you think it is unbusinesslike to bring up a subject BEFORE it becomes a quagmire for the Republican party? It shows why Trump is a billionaire and so many on this thread are not. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Tribe added that he personally believes Cruz is eligible . . .
"My own view as a constitutional scholar is that the better view - the one most consistent with the entire Constitution - is the broader definition, according to which Cruz would be eligible," Tribe said, noting that he believes that a natural born citizen should include, as ABC News wrote, "anyone who is a U.S. citizen at birth and doesn't need to be naturalized." . . .
I would say that Cruz has no interest in being Trump's VP.
Yap, yap, yap, there is no substance to your post. Cruz is a politician, same old, same old...................
As to McCain, the 100-0 Senate resolution said this, in significant part:
Whereas previous presidential candidates were born outside of the United States of America and were understood to be eligible to be President; and
Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936: Now, therefore, be it
I didn’t leave it out. I said Tribe said it was not settled law but he has an opinion.
That’s all he can have.
That’s all Levin can have.
That’s all anyone can have at this point because IT IS NOT SETTLED LAW.
If Cruz was losing in Iowa-— Anita Donald wouldn’t be making these desperate allegations, eh?
Cruz left the largest, most prestigious law firm in the world where he was a partner for 7 years, to enter public service.
Oh, really. Then why didn’t Anita Trump raise the issue 6 months ago, instead of saying that Cruz “was fine”?
Comrade Cruz showed his real color 2 days back. Trump won’t spare him.
There have been dozens of such lawsuits filed against Obama, all of which were dismissed. There have already been some filed against Cruz, Rubio and Jindal which have been dismissed, as well.
On the other hand, Trump has never renounced his dual nationality with Great Britain.
In fact the press seems quite disinterested, and nobody is pressing Trump on this.
The facts are there, all anyone needs to do is dig them up, as I did in just one morning on the internet.
Well, feel free to call Levin and challenge him, he makes a lot of sense with his “opinions.”
The left, and Cruz’s competition, will always find some reason to claim he is not a NBC but nothing I have heard from any of them is compelling to me.
As always, my opinions are worth exactly what you paid for them.
Trump’s Anita Hill attack came days before the “private plane”.
So what??????? The Dems could still sue?
