Father Kevin Payne is outraged after what he has deemed as a line-crossing two-minute pat down of his 10-year-old daughter Vendela by TSA at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The additional security was triggered by a juice pouch Vendela accidentally left in her carry-on bag.
"It was excessive, it was invasive, I was pretty much boiling in my head," he told ABC News. (source)
Payne recorded the pat down on his phone and uploaded the video to YouTube despite the fact that the TSA agent lied and told him that filming was not allowed (it absolutely is).
"While there was a SHOE BOMBER, Agent completely ignores shoes & quickly focuses on my 10 yr old child's buttox, thighs & pelvic areas," Payne wrote in the YouTube video of the incident he uploaded to YouTube.
It's tough to watch the part where it appears the agent is going to lift the girl's shirt. The girl reaches for the hem immediately, a pained look on her face at potentially being undressed in public. The agent pats down her thighs front and back multiple times and around the little girl's breasts.
It really is hard to watch. Her father wrote that he felt like he was watching his 5th grade daughter get assaulted.
And yet, he stood by filming it and watching it happen...
It's a wonder if Americans will ever rise up in mass and simply stop allowing themselves to be subjected to this guilty-until-proven-not-a-terrorist behavior. If everyone across the country simply refused fly for even one whole day to boycott this, it would stop. Instead, our nation's citizens continue to diligently trudge through the airports and subject themselves and their children to be groped and in some cases sexually assaulted by government goons day in and day out.
It's ridiculous, especially considering the TSA has already been found to completely fail at doing its job 95% of the time...

I feel certain that the overpaid negress was a lesbian.
He’d have been hauled away in cuffs.
But then you knew that, didn’t you?
This is exactly why America needs Carl Rove’s candidate:
Another Bush!
FINAL!
Too late now. You’re on our ‘to be avoided list.’!
What kind of soulless scumbag could get up every morning to go do THAT?
You have anything to back up your in cuffs claim?
If you simply refuse the pat-down, and don’t get arrested for abuse or threats, you will be denied entry into the secure area and possibly get a police escort out of the terminal or airport. The TSA may levy up to an $11,000 fine though there is no record of it having done so.
I would take the fine, or by your imaginary standard an arrest and cuffs, rather than let my precious darling be violated...if I was as truly concerned as this guy claims to be. His actions far well short of his actions.
So when you get caught with something illegal, you go with the ‘blame the child to get off the hook’ scenario, as well?
Sleep well, America. The TSA is on the job.
Looks like the relative noob is more than willing to set the standards for those of us who have been around and established a track record. Uses insults like a true DU poster.

I would call it being "schlonged."
Back when the TSA began, I was one of the few here who whole-heartedly supported it.
I posted something like “Law enforcement is one of the few legitimate functions of government. And this is a form of law enforcement.”
I was wrong.
Not necessarily in the theoretical sense, but by trusting that this organization would be professional and competent and would make us safer. Instead, it quickly turned into another government entitlement program for wannabe ninjas who relish power above all else.
The airlines should go back to private security. The TSA has proven a failure.
I noticed : )
Actually, it's been a bit longer than that. I was one of the originals, but then I took a sabbatical some time ago.
You have misunderstood my pique with Guenie. Singling the father out for showing us the evils of TSA was, I felt, just wrongheaded.
He delivered an indictment of the incompetent TSA which now appears to be laden with perverts.
I had a problem twice due to replaced shoulder and knee. I didn’t like to be handled in such a way and told them. I was threatened with the armed man who stood nearby.
He had cuffs dangling in the back of his Sam Browne belt.
The problem is that most of us have definite reasons to want to catch our plane.
“. Instead, it quickly turned into another government entitlement program for wannabe ninjas who relish power above all else...”
I note with some sadness and humor that the demographics of the people who the TSA hired for the job (that being of course the type of people who would answer TSA employment ads), was notably mismatched from the demographics of the people who traveled by air.
So, you have a lot of security alarms being set of by TSA agents who have no personal experience with the things that airline passengers carry that are no security threat, but where the training and policy environment is to treat everything as a threat unless and until it is shown to not be a threat.
Security theater coupled with government-minded focus on zero risk/zero violations = civil rights outrages.
I hear you. All I am saying is that he man’s actions do match his rhetoric. You want to make a point about TSA? Do it yourself. You believe your child’s parts are so precious that they cannot be lightly swiped by a wholey disinterested agent then for goodness sakes refuse the pat-down. He knew what was about to happen and he allowed it.
I suffer those indignities at least twice every week. I do not agree with it but I am not going to claim victim hood. Many Freepers drive to avoid it and I admire them for it. They have the courage of their convictions. This man did not. Allowing your little precious girl to be sexually assualted (his words) while you film it and then post it for the world to see in slow motion no less is hypocritical and a little voyeristic.
I’m stil calling BS on the affair.
