I'd splurge and buy a house in Kanab, Utah, and Traben-Trarbach, Germany, a town I lived in for four years.

Why those two locales? Kanab is a two hour drive from several national parks, to include Zion and Bryce Canyon, and it's out of the way.

Traben-Trarbach is on the Mosel River. During June-Labor Day, there are 2-3 winefests every weekend. During the week, you're a 4 hour drive from Munich, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Switzerland, etc. It's an amateur historian's dream, as the Mosel had a strong Roman influence for 5-6 centuries.

I'd probably splurge for one more house in Burleson, build it within walking distance of Lost Oak Winery, my favorite place to hang out.

One house, right in the middle of about 50,000 acres.
