The military side was enacted by executive order.
The actual quote separates the military and school sides of the commentary.
I am concerned that Trump will EO a lot of stuff when he tires of working with Congress.
That is a concern with any President.
The big difference with Trump is that the media cartel will watch him like a hawk, and always try to cast him in the worst possible light, exactly the opposite of President Obama.
He just cemented in probably 10 million votes.
There is not a federal law banning guns from schools.
There is one that requires a year expulsion for a student bringing a gun.

And those without state permits cannot bring into the school
But schools can and have armed themselves.
What Trump actually said is that military zones would be gone (which the President can do) and he would lead a movement to end school zones.

I do not agree, listen to his words yourself:
He first said “schools”. And when the crowd reacted strongly to that word, he said “you have to”.
When he then followed with “and on military bases on my first day”, why do you think he said the word “and”?
From your link:
B) Subparagraph (A) shall does not apply to the
possession of a firearm-
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to
do so by the State in which the school zone is located
or a political subdivision of the State
It does limit the guns permitted, but it is not a gun free zone.
Several schools have armed themselves in different states. Are you claiming they are in violation of federal law?
“I am concerned that Trump will EO a lot of stuff when he tires of working with Congress.”
I am HOPEFUL that Trump would go around Congress (and the Courts). That’s why I’m voting for him.
We really don’t have time to play footsie with these entrenched politicians anymore (in both branches of government).
You do realize that going around Congress is against the Constitution?
No more so than what’s going on now.
I want something better than that. I would like a return to respect for our Founding documents. All the men who have ever died for those documents and the oaths they took - they need to be remembered. Or else we ought to just forget everything,
“I want something better than that. I would like a return to respect for our Founding documents.”
I think we all want that in the end, it’s just how we get there. I don’t think it’s possible, now, without some serious actions and I think Trump is the only one that will be willing to take those steps. After that, Cruz or someone equivalent (although I can’t name one), gets this country back to it’s constitution. Either that, or we simply turn the corner to where people like Trump or Cruz cannot get elected due to something like mass (illegal) amnesty by the courts, once the Dems finish the job of stacking them (and don’t laugh, they’ll do it, they’ll do anything).
8 years ago, if Trump and Cruz were running, Trump would have scared me, and I’d be all for Cruz - but now Republicans are even more compromised (i.e., I’m still in shock that Ryan’s running the House given our margin there) and the Courts are much, much, worse and are just waiting for one Dem president to get them fully locked down...then it’s over.
