That’s right. You don’t. Even Justice Thomas has admitted to a congressional panel that they are evading the answer .
It’s not settled law. SCOTUS doesn’t really want to have to wrangle this decision.
Waving around some piece of paper about a foreign birth does not mean that person is eligible to be POTUS.
“Assuming heâs telling the truth one of those times, the otherer time, heâs lying. Just as heâs done to other candidates”
It wasn’t in September nor is it now probably. It just needs to be veted...
It’s a bit strong to call it lying. He probably considers it more of an issue now than before when Cruz wasn’t doing so well in the polls.
There’s no way it wasn’t going to come up. Cruz just needs to clear it up so that it isn’t an issue.
1. His mother's birth certificate
2. The Consular Report of Birth Abroad linking him to his mother's citizenship.
If what he says is true, he has both.
1. His mother may not have a birth certificate. You may laugh, but it is certainly possible. For example, my wife has no birth certificate. You can't gin one of those up after the fact, despite Obama's bungled attempts at that very thing.
2. Cruz's parents may not have registered his birth at the Consulate. There is no law requiring that parents do so. It is a smart practice. It is something I did for my oldest boy, but had I not done so, he'd still be an American citizen by birth, with or without this consular document.
So, your final statement is not as as boldly true as it sounds. If what ted Cruz says is true - and I have no doubt that it is - he may have neither of the documents that you demand, and their absence proves nothing.
Lifelong liberal Donald Trump may have fooled the gullible (you) with his new found conservatism. But to call him on his liberalism isn’t a lie, not even close. To deny he is certainly more so.
So then he was lying in September when he said it wasn’t an issue. The truth of a statement doesn’t change because you think an opponent is catching up.
Somewhere, perhaps in some other forum, some liberal Donald Trump supporter will use that.
I think it's very likely Cruz's telling is the truth.
However, he has come under suspicion and accusation in a POTUS race on a subject a very large percentage of the public thinks is important.
He will need to produce the paper trail to remove that cloud and get on with the race.
He can ever do so post facto, the mechanisms exist.
But, it appears he does not believe it matters, or should matter and does not look like he intends to do anything about it.
You have Cruz's voting record, which is a hell of a lot more than rhetoric. Look to Cruz's webpage where he touts his support for Israel, yet he voted for Corker - which was an ironclad Judas vote supporting Iran.
These are hard core votes. So was TPA which knifes the American worker. Vote for religious social conservatism and toss everything else in the trash if you want.
I have an FS-240 and was born before Ted Cruz.
Well, you prove your ignorance.
All of this has already been settled .. a long time ago.
It’s only those of you on the left who are trying to start a firestorm over SOME SUPPOSED INFRACTION BY CRUZ.
YOU WILL LOSE.
You may read about the FS-240 at this link.

No lawyer would be ignorant of the fact he was a dual citizen.

Again .. ignorance.
Cruz already dealt with this .. it’s just the LEFT who cannot leave it alone.
It’s a false charge against Cruz .. and I suspect you all know it .. you’re just content to smear a great candidate.

It states: âSection 349 of the INA (8 U.S.C. 1481), as amended, states that U.S. nationals are subject to loss of nationality if they perform certain specified acts voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish U.S. nationality. Briefly stated, these acts include:
(and # 1 in their list is)
âobtaining naturalization in a foreign state upon oneâs own application after the age of 18 (Sec. 349 (a) (1) INA);â
Well .. if that was true .. then you’re assuming Trump expects that Cruz will either be the nominee for President or for Vice President.
And .. I don’t think this denies the LEFT of anything.
For the record, I like Cruz. He’s the conservative candidate in this race. I’d love to see him on the Supreme Court. That’d be a home run.
I think he has a natural born citizen issue - though the Constitution isn’t being followed much these days so does it matter?
I think the GOPe would starve him of money and let him die on the vine in the general election.
Those are my concerns. I’m actually meeting Cruz in person next week. I’ll raise them.
