Kitty Kallen, her voice sweet and clear, welcomed the troops home from World War II, singing: âKiss me once, kiss me twice, kiss me once again. Itâs been a long, long time.â She turned out hits like âBésame Mucho,â âIâm Beginning to See the Light,â âIn the Chapel in the Moonlightâ and âLittle Things Mean a Lotâ â many reaching the Top 10.
And singing with many of her eraâs top bandleaders â Artie Shaw, Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey, Jack Teagarden â she outlasted their era. Her last hit, âMy Coloring Book,â was in 1962.

Thanks for the memories.
Didn’t she also do a stint on one of the early TV game shows?
Always liked her recording of “I’m Beginning to See the Light” with the Harry James Orchestra.
Also recall a pretty hotsy-totsy vocal she did with the Dorsey Bros., which I think was specifically released on a V-Disc during the war, “I’ve Got that Wonderful Worrisome Feeling.”
No, you’re probably thinking of Kitty Carlisle, who was a panelist on “To Tell the Truth” in the 1950s, as well as a few Hollywood musicals in the 1930s.
Aw Kitty...kiss me once, kiss me twice and kiss me once again. I loved listening to her.
Yes, I had a feeling I was wrong right after I posted so I looked it up. I guess my “old memories” are getting a bit clouded.
Read the linked article, specifically the part about the impersonators and her supposed death.
“She’s here. She’s just sleeping.”

Pretty lady. Sweet voice. Sang with some of the best.
Bor... When I was stationed in Korea with the USAF, my wife would send requests to the American Forces radio network for them to play Kitty Kalen singing “Little Things Mean a Lot”. It was real moral booster although sometimes it brought the tears.
RIP Miss Kitty
Loved dancing to her songs...Thanks for the memories.
RIP.
RIP....
Sorry to hear this. She put out hit after hit.
A really great voice. I heard an interview with her on an Austrialian station a few years back when she recounted her career.
Kitty started singing in the Philly area.
I remember seeing her on the game show panel when I was a kid. Didn’t realize she was a singer back then, but I found out later.
RIP.
