It really is not a non-issue. If it were settled law, then why did the Senate feel it necessary in 2008 to hire Lawrence Tribe and Ted Olson to write an opinion on McCain's eligibility to run for President as a natural born citizen and then issue a non-binding resolution finding McCain eligible?

The issue has never been litigated. Are the children of illegal aliens born in the US eligible to be President? Are the children of tourists born in the US eligible to be President? Are the children of green card holders who elect not to be citizens eligible for the Presidency?

Ted Cruz was a Canadian citizen at birth. He would be the first President ever born outside this country. Only Chester A. Arthur and Obama had only on US citizen parent. Everyone else had two.

We need to resolve this issue once and for all. Cruz will probably be ruled eligible, but we really don't know.

For sure. After 8 years of this with Obama.

What bothers me is Cruz didn’t bother to get rid of his Canadian citizenship...senators should NOT have dual citizenship...all of freeperdom used to agree on that. He maintains he didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen until 2014.....and he’s a lawyer???

"Ted Cruz was a Canadian citizen at birth. "

His only Birth Certificate is from Canada.

If he were not a known US Senator, he would have to provide documentary proof on how that Canadian BC translates to US Citizenship...to obtain a Drivers License or Passport.

I think he should at least be required to do the same to get on the POTUS ballot in 50 states.
